TNA Bound For Glory 2010….10/10/10

I have been avoiding the websites today for a purpose, I want to be surprised over who “THEY” are and what will take place in the 6 man tag match.  Are they all together?  I don’t know if “THEY” are going to be Bischoff and Hogan, but I did noticed Abyss saying “THEY are coming in”, well Hogan and Bischoff are already in the company, so it could be someone new.  I guess we will find out and give TNA credit for using the marketing strategy of 10/10/10 for their biggest PPV of the year.  Here we go, let’s hope it’s a good PPV, even if the buildup has been hit or miss.

We are live in Dayton Beach, Florida, the site where the original NWO debuted back in 1996.

We start the show with all 3 men involved in the main event arriving and getting ready.  Here we go.

World Tag Team Title match kicks off the show.  Generation Me taking on The Motor City Machineguns.  What a great way to start the show.

Wow, what a great start to the show.  The Guns won and retained their Tag Team Titles with the Flying Crossbody Alex Shelley does, over Jeremy Buck.  The best thing about this match was it started slow and built up, even with the flying moves, they told a story.  Generation Me had their opportunities to win, and had some very close falls that had the crowd on the palm of their hands, but at the end of the day, The Guns won the match.  Indeed, this was awesome.

Christy Hemme is in the back with Madison Rayne and Tara.  Madison doesn’t want to hear about how her plan backfired.  She said that Tara knows her place, and she has a message for Mickie James, there is only room for one “Queen Bee” and that is her.  Tara looked a bit upset about that.

4 Corners Match for the TNA KNockout Title is up next, with Mickie James being the special referee.

Angelina Love will face off against Velvet Sky, Madison Rayne, and Tara.

Mickie James looks good in stripes, I thought I would add that.

Tara wins the TNA Knockout Championship when she rolled Velvet Sky after running into Madison and Angelina.  Decent match and all 4 women worked hard.  Madison was upset and was going to scream at Tara, but she shoved Mickie James, who then decked Madison Rayne and told Tara she is next in line for a title match.

Eric Young is backstage with Christy Hemme.  Ink, Inc gave him tattoos.  Eric said it’s okay that he and Orlando are a tag team, he figured out Orlando is bi…polar.  Their tag team match against Ink Inc. is next.

Ink, Inc won in a very bizarre match and the crowd absolutely loved Eric Young.  He started to wrestle his own tag team partner, and Ink Inc finished Orlando off with their Samoan Drop/Moorgasm combination.  After the match, EY was celebrating with Ink Inc and Orlando was going to turn on Young, but Eric dropped his rule book and went to pick it up, and well, yeah Jordan liked that.

Jeff Hardy is with Christy Hemme, he says tonight, he will meet his destiny and he is Bound for Glory.

X-Division Title match, Douglas Williams looking to regain the title from Jay Lethal, and that match is next.

Jay Lethal retained his X-Division Title when Doug Williams tried a Hurrancarana, but Jay used that momentum and rolled Douglas up for the win.  Douglas made the mistake of trying to be flashy.  Good, but short match that had Jay celebrating in the crowd after the victory.

Uh-Oh, Robbie E attacked Jay from behind with Cookie approving it.  He gives Jay the Cutter, and I have a feeling they are grooming him to be the next X-Division champion.  It’s too early for that.

He says on the mic that they feel Jay is a disgrace to New Jersey, the crowd is crapping on this completely.  He said he is going to win the X-Division Title and add some bling to it.  At least he didn’t steal the title.

RVD Vs Abyss in a Monster’s Ball match is up next.  Are we going to find out who THEY are in this match?

Rob Van Dam won an intense Monster’s Ball match that mostly stayed in the ring, but they certainly used the weapons they had, including Janice.  Rob used her on Abyss and gave him the 5 star Frogsplash.  But we haven’t found out who THEY are, at least not yet.  I don’t think we have seen the last of Abyss tonight.

5 Man Handicap match, Sting, The Pope, and Kevin Nash taking on Samoa Joe and Jeff Jarrett.

Jarrett screwed his own partner and walked out on Joe, so the big man was easy pickings, not without a big fight though.  Joe tried, but at the end of the match, Nash gave him a jackknife.  So Jeff is a heel again, and the question is Jeff part of “THEY”?

Mr. Anderson is in the back with Christy, and he said now he is going to have to end Kurt’s career, he apologized to Kurt’s family for retiring him.  Why?  Because Kurt hit him in the nuts, and the right and left both hurt.  So Kurt brought this on himself.

Team 3-D is out now with their big announcement.  He and D-Von formed their tag team since 1996, and they do it for the support and respect of the fans.  They are 23 time World Tag Team champions, all titles from the major organizations, and that includes, most importantly, TNA Tag Team Championships.  Bubba is teasing they are leaving, but the crowd doesn’t want them to.  Bubba said at this moment, Team 3-D is officially retired.  But if they have to go out, they want out for one more match.  They want the best Tag Team in the world today, so they want the Motor City Machineguns.  If they beat them, they will be the official team to retire Team 3-D.  But if they win, they go out as 24 time Tag Team champions.  Bubba thanks the fans for screaming at the top of their tongues, and they do one more “Get the tables” chant.  And that is it, are they officially retiring or just retiring as a team?

EV2 Vs Fortune in a Lethal Lockdown match is up next.

As Flair comes out, Foley goes after Ric, so their feud will continue on.

It will be Stevie Richards and Kazarian starting off in their respective teams.  They are in for 5 minutes, and every 2 minutes, a different man will come in.

AJ Styles is in now, so I guess the match starts every 2 minutes, unlike Wargames rules, where the first 2 men are in for 5 minutes.

Tommy Dreamer is in for EV2.

Robert Roode is in for Fortune, making it a 3 on 2 advantage.

Sabu is up next for EV2.

James Storm is up next for Fortune.

Raven is in now for EV2.

“The Blueprint” Matt Morgan is in now for Fortune, which means once Rhino is in, the cage will be lowered and weapons are allowed.

Rhino is in now, let the Wargames…I mean Lethal Lockdown begin.

And while the match is going on, Flair and Foley are fighting now.

Kazarian gets thrown out of the cage…literally, and Stevie follows him up on top of the cage.

Sabu flies out of the cage and lands on Morgan and Roode.

The only two men left in the ring are AJ and Tommy Dreamer, crowd is fired up.

Kazarian goes up a ladder, but someone in a cloak opens up the sheet and it’s Brian Kendrick.  He has been up there the whole time, and Kazarian goes through a table.

Dreamer gives AJ a Dreamer Driver and pins AJ.  Now I am pissed, the wrong team won.

Kurt is backstage with Christy.  Kurt says he has always been a champion, and he HAS to win the TNA Title.  Wrestling is what he does, and he will walk out of Daytona Beach as the TNA Champion, and Hulk, this one is for you.

TNA Title match, Three Way Dance is up next.  Jeff Hardy taking on Mr. Anderson and Kurt Angle.  This should literally blow the roof off the building.

The match was going on and we had pur usual ref bump that took forever.  Eric Bischoff came out with a chair in hand.  He came into the ring, while Hardy was outside, Angle and Anderson were laid out in the ring.  Bischoff was about to hit Angle, but Hogan’s music came on….Uh-Oh.  Hulkster came in, crutches and all, got into the ring and started yelling with Bischoff.  Hardy came in, got between the two of them, and he started to jaw with Eric.  Hogan handed Jeff his crutch, and the two were swinging for the fences, although it was Jeff….that nailed Kurt.  Then he nailed Anderson, and pinned him to become the new TNA Champion.  Hogan, Bischoff, and Hardy all embraced, with Jarrett and Abyss following him, yes….Jeff Hardy, Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, and Jeff Jarrett are THEY.  RVD comes out, wants to know what happened, Hardy decked him with the title, making the turn official, and we get cups being thrown out, and as the PPV ends, Mike Tenay leaves us with this thought, “Jeff Hardy has just sold his soul to the Devil”.  Okay, it’s not quite “Hulk Hogan, you can go to hell…straight to hell” like Tony Schivonne said it back in 1996, but it works.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

I know there will be some people crap on this and the end result, but I actually liked it.  Let’s be honest for a second, this could have been worst, Hogan could have won the title, and you know very well that could have happened.  But in this case, it’s Bischoff and Hogan saying Jeff Hardy is our man, and he will lead us through power.  There is nothing wrong with that.  Plus, this opens the door for more main event matches, such as RVD Vs Hardy, Hardy Vs Samoa Joe (Remember, he is pissed off that Jarrett cost him the match), we may even see AJ Vs Hardy, but we will certainly see Hardy Vs Angle down the line, as we should.  I also want to comment that this was a risk.  As far as I know, Hardy has never worked as a heel, so this will be new and fresh.  Is it the NWO?  Absolutely not, but let’s give this a chance.  Let’s try to see Jeff being a heel, and he can give Bischoff the mic, so he can do the talking.  I think it was a calculated move, and it’s something I didn’t think was possible.  Let’s see where it goes.

As far as the rest of the show, I loved the set.  I hope they keep it, but maybe The Impact Zone is not big enough.  The first match was perfect to start, and I also want to touch on The Machineguns.  This is their time now, and going by what Team 3-D, in specific, what Bubba said, they could very well put them over, the way it should be and the Guns can go even a step further on the ladder.  I don’t buy Team 3-D physically retiring, I see Team 3-D being done, and The Dudley Boys coming back to WWE.  What I don’t understand is why.  WWE doesn’t care about tag teams, and they will welcome them back, only to use them on WWE Superstars.  I guess we will see what happens down the road.  The other matches were good, but I questioned a few of them, in particular seeing Fortune lose on the big stage.  It never should have happened, Fortune should be pushed as the elite, not a group who will lose to a unit on the downside of their career.  I’d like to see one final match, where Fortune are victorious.  They earned it.

I’ll say it again, Mickie James back in TNA just feels right.  I am glad to see her back, and the upcoming Tara Vs Mickie match should be good.  I am sure Madison will be added to the mix too.  The TNA Title match was good, up until the ending, but it certainly has me intrigued as to what will happen at Impact this coming Thursday.  Overall, a good show that will answer some more questions in weeks to come.  What were your thoughts on the show?  Email me at or drop me a comment on the site.

See, I didn’t think Jeff would go as a heel. He’s never done that before. I did think Kurt would go heel, and I am glad he didn’t win the title for now. But surely, seeing an Angle-Hardy match on PPV works for me. I will check out your thoughts on Youtube. Thank you.
