WWE Monday Night Raw 12/20/10…The Fallout To TLC

After such a great PPV last night and setting up the road to Royal Rumble tonight, we start the show off with The Miz.

CM Punk and Jerry “The King” Lawler welcome us to the show, without Michael Cole, so that is a plus.

Miz tells us that STILL the WWE Champion, The Miz is out there, now the crowd thought it was going to be the NEW WWE Champion Randy Orton, but The Miz outsmart us all.

Alex Riley came out as the Ghost of Christmas Past, and said he is there to make sure he corrects his ways, and we see footage from 3 weeks ago when The Miz defeated Jerry Lawler for his first title defense.  Miz said he isn’t regretting it, then we get Michael Cole as the Ghost of Christmas Present.  And he quotes, although he won the match last night, and it was vintage, he cheated to win.  The Miz asked if he is still the WWE champion, so the answer is yes.  Randy Orton took him lightly, and he showed the world he could hang with him.  Then the Ghost of Christmas Future came up on the Titantron in the shape of The Angry Miz Girl, boy are they using up what they can of that little girl.  The person said that Miz better change his ways or else John Morrison, the new Number One Contender to the WWE Title will defeat Miz.  Miz said future?  He is the future of WWE, because he’s The Miz….and he is awesome.

Morrison comes out and admit this was stupid.  He said he is glad that Miz won because he is the new Number One Contender to the WWE Title.  He has beaten Miz in the past, he has beaten him in the present, and he will beat him in the future when the time is right.  Riley got in the face of Morrison, and the two start to fight.  Then Sheamus comes out and tries to get some of John.  The two of them start to fight, Miz and Riley leave the ring and Lawler shoves Riley.

And because of this….Email sound….

Cole reads the email and we get a 6 man tag match tonight.  Miz gets to face his past, present, and future.  It will be The Miz, Alex Riley, and King Sheamus taking on John Morrison, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Randy Orton.

Orton then comes out and gives Miz a RKO, it happened so fast that the announcers didn’t even pick up on it.  Good lord, does WWE need Jim Ross doing play-by-play.

And also tonight, John Cena addresses the crowd….again.

Our first match of the evening is  a Number One Contender Triple Threat match to the WWE Diva’s Title and it will be Melina, with shorter hair taking on Alicia Fox and Eve.

Melina pinned Alicia with the Last Call after Eve tried a Top Rope splash, Melina is now the new Number One Contender to the WWE Diva’s Title.  Natalya, who was at the commentator’s table calling the match and scouting came into the ring to shake hands with Melina, but Melina slapped her face, and left.  A heel turn for Melina?  Cool.

The Bella Twins are fighting for Daniel Bryan’s attention again, and Daniel has a match, coming up next.

Daniel will be taking on William Regal, good to see Regal back.

Daniel wins with the LaBell Lock, and sadly, the announcers, except for CM Punk could care less.  This was a good match though, but King cared more about the Bellas, and after the match, the twins gave Daniel a kiss.  He looks like he is going to pass out, but again this was a fun match between the teacher and the student.

Still to come tonight, a 6 man tag team match between The Miz, Alex Riley, and King Sheamus taking on John Morrison, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Randy Orton.

Tomorrow night, live Smackdown will air on USA Network at 9:00, and Wednesday night, WWE will re-air and expand the Tribute to the Troops, starting at 8:00, airing on USA Network for 2 hours.  WWE week on USA Network.

John Morrison is backstage, Orton comes up to him, he says he had a good match last night at the PPV.  Morrison said he watched his match and it was bogus how the ending turned out.  Orton said if Morrison beats The Miz, he will go after him.  Morrison said he’ll be ready, and he trusts Orton will too.  Orton said that’s his first mistake, do not trust The Viper.

Meanwhile on the other side of backstage, Santino has Tamina walking on his back, he asks if she knows she is doing and she said no.  Maryse comes in and says it’s good to know Tamina has a backup plan after she and Ted beat Santino and Tamina tonight, and the two of them get into each other’s face on top of Santino.  Very funny.

Meanwhile on the other side of backstage, wow this is a long backstage, Mark Henry and Gail Kim make their token appearances talking about how great it is Wade Barrett isn’t here.  Mark said the air seems fresh, but we see Dolph Ziggler and Vicky Guerrero make their way, and Mark said on second thought, the air isn’t that fresh, and we go to a commercial.

We have a mixed tag team match now, Santino and Tamina taking on Ted Dibiase and Maryse.

Boy, have they dropped the ball on Ted Dibiase, I mean this guy had potential, and now he is losing to the Cobra.  Okay, maybe not, but his team did lose when Tamina did an awesome Top Rope Splash, like her father would have done.  Snuka Snuka Snuka, WOW.

The Franchise is coming out next, he will more than likely make his announcement that he entered the Royal Rumble, or something like that.

Here comes The Franchise.

Cena said tonight is epic, and he is going to do something he should have done 6 months ago, he hugs the “We Hate Cena” T-Shirt guy.  He said this is the first time in 6 months that we are NEXUS free.  He is in such a good mood that he wants to sing, and he sings the Texas song.  But he in such a good mood that he wants to show exclusive footage from last night’s TLC PPV where he put Wade Barrett in a table full of chairs.

While this is going on, Punk is irate over this.

Cena mentioned 6 months ago he said he would get to each and every single member of NEXUS, it took awhile, but he finally did it.  Now he can focus on more important things and that is to win the Royal Rumble and go on to Wrestlemania.

Excuse Me….

Vicky Guerrero comes out with Dolph Ziggler for no apparent reason at all, but Vicky is out there with tremendous heel heat.  She is trying to say that she was not the only one who won a match last night, but the crowd won’t allow her to, even Dolph has to try to not laugh.

Vicky wants to show footage from last night’s show, but instead they show footage from last week’s Slammy’s where Lawler is making fun of her weight.

She said that if King doesn’t apologize to her, Dolph will beat her up, the crowd again gives Vicky tremendous heel heat.  But now King and Cena trade fat jokes over Vicky.

Dolph tries to stand up to Vicky, but Cena tells more jokes.  Vicky finally slaps Cena’s mouth.  Dolph gets into John’s face and we have….

Email sound….

And I quote…..The GM says tonight, we will get a one on one match between Dolph Ziggler and John Cena.  That match will take place right now….after a commercial.

Heck of a match, and for a second, you thought Dolph would win, but Cena pulls off the Attitude Adjustment on Dolph and celebrates the win, when he does that, CM Punk comes into the ring and nails Cena with a chair shot to the back.  Cena then no-sells the move, gets up quickly and looks like The Terminator after Punk goes backstage, but I am liking the potential of this feud.

During the commercial, we find out why Punk did what he did.  Punk said he did it to teach Cena a lesson, to get his own medicine since he loves hurting people, and to never, ever, ever spill someone’s diet soda.

Lawler is backstage, and we have a “King” confrontation between Sheamus and Lawler.

Meanwhile on the other side of backstage, we have Vicky and Dolph.  Vicky is irate that Dolph lost the match, and Dolph said he wants Cena tomorrow night on Smackdown.  Since Vicky is the Executive Consultant, she will make the match tomorrow night a handicap match between Cena going against Vicky and Dolph.

Main event 6 man tag team match is up now.  The Miz, Alex Riley, and Sheamus taking on John Morrison, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Randy Orton.

Before the match, we get the same great footage of The Miz on Jimmy Fallon last week.

Randy Orton, John Morrison, and Jerry “The King” Lawler defeat The Miz, Alex Riley, and Sheamus when Orton gives Miz a RKO, and King pinned him.  Good to see Lawler get the win here, and this match served a purpose, but the Raw GM is stealing King’s thunder when….

Email Sound….

The Raw GM confirmed that on tomorrow night’s episode of Smackdown we will see a Handicap match between Vicky Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler taking on John Cena.  We will also have The Miz taking on Randy Orton tomorrow night.  And this is how we end the show.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

This was a mixed bag to me.  I have no problem with King getting the victory, but I also think they tried to capitalize on the magic he and Miz had a few weeks ago.  I just think they should have kept the focus on The Miz Vs John Morrison, but we also will have Orton Vs The Miz tomorrow night on Smackdown.  I guess Raw has to be represented because Smackdown has to be represented every week now?

Okay, I can accept that, but only one mention of Royal Rumble tonight, and that was Cena giving us a comment that now he is focused on winning the Rumble.  I think next week, the true build to the PPV must begin.

In terms of Cena goes, he had a good match with Dolph tonight, but he tried way too hard to be funny, and it came out as being goofy.  But we are in the start of Cena Vs Punk, which could happen at Wrestlemania, or it could happen at Rumble with one match.  I guess we will just see.

Once again, the beginning of the show was okay, I did like the beginning of setting up The Miz Vs Morrison, and last night, they made that win by John feel big.  I truly hope they keep that going, but the rest of the show was just there.  Either the announcers didn’t pay any attention to the action, or the wrestlers tried their best to make their matches meaningful.  I have no clue where they are going with the Bella Twins, but regardless, they continue it so I guess they have a plan.  I did enjoy Bryan Vs Regal though, but I don’t think they will continue with that.  Melina now might be a heel, will they explain why?  Maybe tomorrow night.  Let’s check out Smackdown, they must deliver tomorrow night and usually a show comes off much better live.  We’ll see, but everything else was in Holiday Mode, and although that might be fine this week, next week, they have to get back in gear.  What were your thoughts on the show?  Email me at DJKevinGillman75@aol.com or drop me a line on the site.
