WWE Money In The Bank 7/17/11

Finally, after one month of being without a computer monitor, I am back.  Just in time too so I can see this landmark PPV, and see what will happen with CM Punk Vs John Cena.  Does WWE have the guts, or as Punk would say….the balls to give the title to Punk?  Or will someone cash in the Money in the Bank and beat Punk on the same night?  Let’s just hope WWE doesn’t do what we all expect them to do, and that is give Cena the win.  Tune in, and find out with me.  Here we go.

We are live in Chicago, Illinois, the home of one Phil Brooks, or as we like to cal him…CM Punk.

Michael Cole, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and Booker T welcome us to the show.  We kick the show off with the Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder match right now.

Sheamus Vs Sin Cara Vs Justin Gabriel Vs Heath Slater Vs Wade Barrett Vs Cody Rhodes Vs Daniel Bryan Vs Kane.

Daniel Bryan is now known as Mr. Money In The Bank.  A great start to the show tonight.  We have Sheamus taking out Sin Cara, The Corre reuniting for one minute, only to have them turn each other, Kane and Sheamus with a Doomsday Device on Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes pulling off Crossroads, a 450 splash by Justin Gabriel, and at the end of the match, Daniel took out both Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett to climb up and get the case.  Very good match here, and a big win for Daniel.

Earlier tonight, Vince McMahon entered the building in a limo with John Laurentius and a lawyer to give CM Punk one more chance to sign a contract.

Kelly Kelly Vs Brie Bella for the WWE Divas Title is up now.

Kelly retained her title with her X-Factor and won.  Eve accompanied her to the ring to second her and made sure that Nikki Bella did not interfere.

The Big Show Vs Mark Henry is up next.

Mark Henry won the match with 2 Strongest Slams and 2 Splashes.  Very intense match between these two, and I loved it.  After the match, Mark had worked on Show’s knee, and he brought in a chair to give Show a Vader Bomb on the knee.  Show was being carted out.

A fantastic way to put Henry over as a monster.

Josh Matthews interviews Mr. McMahon.  He wants to know if CM Punk signed the contract, the answer was no.  In fact, when Vince went into Punk’s locker room, Punk told him to get out.  This is John Cena’s fault for insisting on this match, and if he doesn’t win, than have mercy on his soul.

Raw Money in the Bank Ladder match is up now.

Alberto Del Rio Vs Kofi Kingston Vs R-Truth Vs Alex Riley Vs Rey Mysterio Vs Jack Swagger Vs Evan Bourne Vs The Miz.

Alberto Del Rio is now Mr. Money in the Bank, winning.  This too was an incredible match and the highlight of the match was seeing 7 men on the ladder, trying to scratch and crawl for the briefcase.  The Miz was taken out, but he came back and hobbled up the ladder, only for Rey to stop him.  Alberto took Rey’s mask off and ran to the ladder, grabbed it, and he won.  We also had a very close call with Kofi and Jack Swagger when Kofi had Jack down on the mat, and the ladder tripped both of them.  Swagger looked okay, but he could have messed up his neck.  All 8 men fought hard, and at the end of the match, the right man won.

Randy Orton Vs Christian for the World Heavyweight Championship is up now.

Josh Matthews congratulates Alberto Del Rio.  Del Rio said he doesn’t understand why he even had to be in this match, since he won the Number One Contendership match a few weeks ago on Raw.  But after tonight, everyone will see how great he is.

Was this all a part of his destiny to win the Money in the Bank briefcase?

No, his destiny is to win the WWE Championship.

World Heavyweight Championship match is on now.

Christian wins the match by DQ….which means….he is the World Heavyweight Champion.  What triggered Randy off is Christian spitting on Randy.  Another great match between these two, and the Chicago crowd loved seeing Christian as the new champion.  Even after the match, Randy attacks Christian and puts him up on the Spanish Announce Table.  Teddy Long comes out to try to plead with Randy, but it doesn’t work, he gives Christian a RKO, but the table doesn’t break.  That has to hurt.

Randy gives Christian another RKO, and once again, the table doesn’t break.  I think the table is supposed to break here folks.

One more time?

Interesting, Daniel Bryan isn’t cashing in.  Maybe Wrestlemania?

Summerslam, the biggest event of the summer is coming on August 14th, in the city of Angles…Los Angeles.

CM Punk Vs John Cena is up next.  Big match feel is going on right now, probably the biggest match of the year.  Will it live up?  Tune in and find out.

I think it’s safe to say that CM Punk is over in Chi-Town.

CM Punk defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship with a GTS.

Vince McMahon and John Laurentius came out during what was an incredible match between Cena and Punk.  Vince sent John to call for the bell when Cena had Punk for the STF, but Cena decked Laurentius, and made it clear to Vince not to end the match this way….ala 1997.

John came back in the ring, and was caught with the GTS and Punk pinned John to become the new WWE Champion.  After the match, Vince called for Alberto Del Rio to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, he came out and was kicked by Punk, without the ball being called, so the match wasn’t official.  Punk jumped into the crowd and left with the WWE Title and Vince McMahon is left standing beside himself.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

I am going to say this right now, this was the best PPV of the year, by far.  Absolutely incredible, all of the matches delivered what they were supposed to do, and to top this off, we ended the PPV with a big cliffhanger.  Can WWE sign Punk at the strike of Midnight?  Will Vince fire Cena?  And will Evan Bourne finally admit his lifelong dream, and that is to win a match and be pushed?  Okay that last one might not have happened, but the rest can happen.  Okay, Cena won’t be fired, but you know what I mean.

One thing that is sure to happen is WWE website will get plenty of hits between now and tomorrow night on Raw, and Raw should get a high rating to see what happens.  I know I’ll be here to blog about it, so keep checking on this site.

As for the rest of the card, I have no problem with Christian winning the World Heavyweight Title and the way he did it.  After all, it is part of the stipulations here.  If Orton is DQ’d, Christian becomes World Heavyweight champion, and they actually pulled it off.

Daniel Bryan winning Money in the Bank Ladder match is a shock, Alberto winning is not, but it’s fine that he did.

I hope both of them wait and cash in, although tonight might have been the night for Daniel after seeing Christian all bruised up from that table after the match.

Mark Henry Vs Big Show was a fun match to watch.  I know some people may not like to see two big men face off, but I do.  It’s shades of Andre The Giant Vs Big John Studd, and I am old school.

Diva’s match was fine too, so not one bad match here, and I give WWE credit for having the balls to switch things up.  Now what happens tomorrow night?  What did you think of the show?  Let me know by emailing me at DJKevinGillman75@aol.com or leave me a note on the site.

    Daniel freakin Byran? Seriously? Why?

I hope they have Punk at an ROH taping with the WWE Belt..that would be hilarious..

Obviously setting up Del Rio for SummerSlam so he can fullfill his destiny..

  2. Kevin Gillman says:

I don’t have a problem with D Bryan winning, he’s an incredible wrestler. I just am not a fan of his enmtrance theme…LOL

  3. Alan Zarek says:

I would have been happier with Cody Rhodes as the winner of the MITB for SmackDown but I can live with the swerve here…I don’t anybody saw this coming…I just want my WWE Ice Cream Bars back..those were the bomb back in the day..

  4. Kevin Gillman says:

I like Cody too, but for now he would be perfect as an IC Champ, with the idea that he will be competing for the World Heavyweight Title in a year. I just have a bad feeling that they are using Daniel to become the first man to cash in and lose the title match. But yeah, those ice cream bars were very good…LOL
