WWE Friday Night Smackdown 10/28/11…Super Smackdown Show

With Game 7 of the World Series, you never know what time the game is over with, so I thought I’d watch tonight’s show through Youtube, and give you my report.  If you want to watch it later tonight, then I will warn you, there are spoilers here.  So away we go.

Last Sunday at Vengeance, two men were hurt, and the score was never settled between Mark Henry and Big Show.

Teddy Long is in the ring to begin the show.

The status of Mark Henry, The Big Show, and the World Heavyweight Title, things are in a state of shock, but they are both here, and the future of the World Title will be addressed later tonight.

Here comes Christian, I guess he wants one more match.

What Mark Henry and Big Show are historic, and Christian means history.  As far as he is concerned, Big Show had his opportunity, and he blew it.  There is a big void over the World Heavyweight Title, and that void is being filled by Christian.  The man has dominated the last five months of….

Teddy reminds him that he lost at Vengeance to Sheamus, but Christian counters that is resilience, and….

CM Punk comes out to the ring.

Before Christian was so rudely interrupted, he deserves one more match.

But what is he doing out here anyway?

Teddy informs Christian that he brought Punk, and other Raw superstars out for a Super Smackdown.

Punk thanks Teddy for inviting him and there is finally a competent General Manager.  Christian scoffs at that, but Punk says he isn’t John Laurinaitis.  John makes Teddy look like FDR.  Teddy thinks it’s a compliment, but it isn’t really.

Punk is here because he is a huge fan of Christian.  He is a fan of his wrestling ability, and would like to see Christian get one more match.

Christian asked isn’t Punk the same man who hijacked the WWE Title this past summer?

Christian thought it was a complete joke, and he thinks that it’s horrible John L is even considering giving Punk a title shot.

Punk feels maybe John L is considering giving him a title shot because he doesn’t do what Christian does, and that is bitching…

and bitching….

and bitching…

and bitching…

Christian doesn’t care if he was invited, take your pipe bomb, and go back to Raw, nobody wants him here.

But over 10,000 people in Houston want Punk here.  He bets people want to see Punk in a match tonight, and that match is against Christian.

Teddy says it’s on, and Punk yells out Holla Holla Holla.

So tonight, Christian will face CM Punk….one more match.

Michael Cole, Booker T, and Josh Matthews welcome us to the show, we are in Houston.  Tonight, Christian Vs Punk, and coming up next….The Awesome Truth Vs Air Boom, in a non-title match.

Awesome Truth won the match with what is called a Little Jimmy Finale, a combination of Skull Crushing Finale, and Paydirt….or Little Jimmy.

Awesome Truth have the mic, Truth says to not boo them, you should boo yourselves.  For those of you keeping count, they just beat the WWE Tag team Champions.  At Vengeance, they beat CM Punk and HHH, they beat up Zack Ryder and John Cena at Raw this past Monday.

Miz said they beat Cena so bad that he had to go find another tag team partner for Survivor Series, The Rock.  But that’s fine, Rock and Cena do not like each other, and if they don’t tear each other up by then, Awesome Truth will finish them off at Survivor Series.

Tonight, the status of the World Heavyweight Title will be addressed tonight, and CM Punk will face Christian.

Now, I have no idea what is coming up next, because the footage I am watching is a “From The Vault” session that took place back in 2009 I believe.  Cryme Tyme and Rey Mysterio facing Chris Jericho, Big Show, and Dolph Ziggler.  I guess I will have to watch Friday Night Smackdown a bit later tonight to see what I am missing, but we will continue with the rest of the show.

We come back to present day Smackdown and see various people watching TV in the locker room.  They are watching the Shawn Michaels Vs Bret Hart DVD that came out this week, and I must own it.  Justin Gabriel asked Daniel Bryan if he was trained by Shawn, and Daniel said he was trained by him for a year, and it was amazing how athletic he was.  Tyson Kidd comes in, and of course, he was trained by the Harts.  Tyson said everyone knows Bret was better than Shawn.  Daniel said that Shawn is Mr. Wrestlemania, so the two of them continued to bicker about who is better, and Santino suggested they take it to the ring, and they will.

Hornswoggle is dressed like a mini-Zack Ryder for Halloween, and we see Vickie Guerrero, along with Dolph Ziggler, and Jack Swagger.

Despite Teddy’s efforts, Dolph still did what he does best, he stole the show, and retained his United States Title at Vengeance.

Teddy didn’t do anything to mess with Dolph, he put him in a match tonight against Randy Orton.  And Jack Swagger is banned from ringside.

Oh good gravy, here is Aksana.

She and Teddy are going into his office and “talk about this”.

We now see a Raw Rebound featuring what took place between Kevin Nash and HHH this past Monday night.

HHH suffered a concussion and a broken vertebrae, he will be out of action for 6 weeks, at least.

Our next match is going to be Wade Barrett Vs Trent Barreta.

While Cole continues to poke fun at J.R. and tells us he has footage of J.R. training, Barrett gives Trent Wasteland, and that’s all she wrote.

Coming up next, Randy Orton will face Dolph Ziggler.

Here comes Cody Rhodes to provide us some great commentary for this match.

Excellent match between these two, and we get a RKO by Randy Orton to win the match.

Cody storms out of ringside, but he grabs a paper bag, and starts to talk to it.  Oh boy.

Footage from last week’s match with Sin Cara Vs Sin Cara, mask Vs mask.

Sin Cara II is with Matt Striker, and we get the stupid question of the week….How does it make you feel?

He said it’s pay back time, so this feud is far from over.

The status of the World Heavyweight Title will be address tonight, and former champions collide.  Christian Vs CM Punk.

Brodus Clay video is being shown.

Daniel Bryan Vs Tyson Kidd is up now.

Daniel Bryan makes Tyson Kidd tap out to The LaBell Lock.  As Josh Matthews points out here, the losing streak is over for Daniel.

More Raw Rebound with John Cena facing The Awesome Truth this past Monday night.

The Rock might answer John Cena’s challenge this Monday on Raw.

Now more garbage with Cole Vs. Jim Ross.  Yes folks, Jim Ross Vs Michael Cole in the “Michael Cole Challenge” this Monday, and we have more fake pictures about Ross by Cole.

Only Michael thinks it’s funny, and well, Vince too.

The Big Show and Mark Henry find the status of the World Heavyweight Title next.

Big Show gives Mark credit, he fought one hell of a fight, but he wants another chance, so let’s reinforce the ring.  Show looked in Mark Henry’s eyes, and he knows without a doubt he can beat Mark.  He knows he can take the World Heavyweight Title from Mark Henry.

He sat in a conference with Teddy Long, and assures him there will be another title match in the near future.

Here comes the World Heavyweight Champion.

Mark doesn’t care who he talked to, he isn’t getting a rematch.  He went into Vengeance as the World Heavyweight Champion, and he left Vengeance as the World Heavyweight Champion.  As far as Mark is concerned, he handled his business, and he’s done with him.  He is sore and beaten because of the ring, but Show is sore and beaten because he beat him that way.

But perhaps with Show running his mouth, Mark didn’t do it very well.  So he’s going to come into the ring and stick his boot in his mouth so he can shut up.

Mark Henry starts to get into the ring, but he has second thoughts, and gets out, holding the title up in the air.

Coming up next, two former champions collide.  Christian Vs CM Punk.

Punk defeated Christian with GTS.  During the match, Alberto Del Rio came out to scout the match and right when Christian was on the verge of winning, Sheamus came out and distracted Christian, and Punk picked up the win and end the show.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

A decent show tonight that mostly featured, are you ready?  Wrestling, imagine that.  I truly enjoyed Orton Vs Ziggler, and the beginning segment of the show was entertaining with two great mouthpieces, and their match was fun to watch too.

We also had the makings of a Survivor Series rematch with Mark Henry Vs Big Show, and I don’t have any complaints about that.  The two brought it this past Sunday night.

Awesome Truth was booked very strong, and although the Tag team champions lost, they aren’t booked in a big program like Awesome Truth.  I just hope Awesome Truth do not win the Tag team Titles from now until then.

Daniel Bryan was booked strong, and now is the time he starts picking up wins if he indeed is going to Wrestlemania as the challenger to the World Heavyweight Title.  Wade Barrett looked strong, and it’s time to elevate him to the next level too.

Overall, a good show, and I wish the writers would go back to booking the way it used to be, strong wrestling on Friday nights.
