WWE Monday Night Raw 4/9/12…Here Comes The Pain

We are live in Washington D.C., Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler welcome us to the show, and The Three Stooges are the special Guest Host of the show, we also have a rematch from last week, Mark Henry will face CM Punk.

We kick the show off with the General Manager, John Laurinaitis, and his epic music.

He wants to show the kind of impact the new WWE Superstar made last week when Brock Lesnar returned and took John Cena out with a F5.  Indeed, at Extreme Rules, it will be Brock Vs Cena.  Wow, so quick.

Here comes the pain.

Brock wants to thank John for bringing him back in, and giving us back legitimacy in the WWE.

Here comes John Cena, with a smile on his face.

But see, this is why Cena is smiling, he slapped Brock Lesnar, and what followed is an awesome display between the two men where they take each other down, and out comes the entire WWE roster, not just a few guys, but the entire roster to cover both men.  They each break out of the huddled mess and try to take each other out, and Cena is all bloodied in the mouth, they surely can’t hide that.

Let’s see more of these angles, make these storylines more real, and more hatred.  A great way to start the show off when we go to a commercial break.

Tomorrow night, Super Smackdown Live….Blast From The Past at 8:00 PM.  Airing on SyFy Network.

Moments ago, we see what we just saw, Lesnar and Cena going at it.

Laurinaitis is blaming all of this on Teddy Long.  He orders him to go and talk to Cena and find out what made him do that.

Eve Torres approaches Johnny, she tells him to call him sometime, and they can discuss things.

Here comes The Funky Funkasaurus, someone call my Momma.

This is a tag team match, with Santino and Brodus Clay facing Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler, now.

Brodus and Santino win the match with a big splash on Dolph by Brodus.  Not even Jack could save Dolph with this one.

We are backstage again, and have The Miz and Johnny speak.  Johnny doesn’t want to talk about The Miz, wait until next week.

Teddy Long shows up, and he asks where he has been.  He is with Cena, still a bloody lip, he says that he gets beat up, he hits someone, and loves the action.  He is legitimacy.  But he brought in a machine that can’t be stopped.  Cena will stop him, and he is looking forward to the match.  Now Johnny can give him the night off, but John wants to work tonight, and Johnny can choose the opponent.

Johnny tells Teddy to tell David he has to face Cena tonight, but Johnny will be in his corner.

Meanwhile on the other side of the circuit, Santino is trying to look for The Three Stooges, he asks Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins if they saw them, they did not, and who cares.

Last week, CM Punk was knocked out, with a contusion, tonight, he faces Mark Henry.

Earlier tonight, Cena slaps Lesnar and Brock takes out Cena, actually hitting him with a hook.

Santino is looking for the Stooges, but runs right into Kane.

Kane hasn’t seen the Stooges, and Santino runs.

Here comes R-Truth, with Little Jimmy.  His opponent is Cody Rhodes.

Truth wins the match with a Little Jimmy, when The Big Show presented Cody with footage from last week to distract Cody, it worked.

Oh boy, Santino found The Three Stooges, we can all rest now.

Here comes Lord Tensai.  His opponent is Yoshi Tatsu.

Albert, I mean Lord Tensai wins the match with a Baldo Bomb.  Albert chants were throughout this match, this gimmick isn’t working.  Just bring him back as A-Train.

Yoshi was out cold after the Baldo Bomb, and Charles Robinson stopped the match.  After that, Tensai laid him out with a Claw hold.

Footage from last week where Jericho lays Punk out with a whiskey bottle.  Punk faces Mark Henry, next.

They come back to show us what Jericho did to Punk last week, now WWE Title is on the line, he will face Mark henry, but first, Punk has something to say.

Punk understands that not everyone understands straight edge, but it never was a choice for him to be trendy, or a way to appeal to people, because he never was popular in school, but being straight edge was a choice.  The reason was never explained, because who cares.  He never wanted people to feel sorry for himself, but he always believed that he would make it to the top in the WWE, and it’s not because he is straight-edged, but because he is the best in the damn world.

Now along comes Chris Jericho, who comes back into his head by saying he is the best wrestler in the world.  When that doesn’t work, he decides to destroy the reason why Punk is straight edge, and then he tried to say lies about his sister, about Punk being a bastard, but when that doesn’t work, and Punk made Jericho tap out at Wrestlemania, he take sit one step further.  He pours whiskey all over Punk’s body, and smashes a bottle over the back of his head.  As he lays unconscious back and forth, he wasn’t thinking how he is doing, or if he can make that international title in a few weeks, but that thought was he smells exactly like his father did.

Jericho interrupts Punk, showing up on the Titantron, and asks him if he’s still hung over?  It takes awhile to get that out of your system the first time, or is he thinking about his dear old Daddy, or is he drunk?  Is the WWE Universe witnessing the first time Punk is a bit tipsy.

Punk tries to give excuses, but Jericho said there is a 12 step program, and the fans see it right through him.  They don’t see the WWE Champion, or the best in the world, they are witnessing a loser.  He forced him last week for the very first time what it’s like to be CM Drunk.

Punk said all he broke was a bottle last week, he didn’t break him.  What Jericho realized is that he is a failure, and Punk will use every negative thought that he has ever faced, he will channel that up and use it against Jericho, because this isn’t about showing he is the best in the world, this is about Punk kicking Jericho’s ass.

Speaking of kicking ass, here comes Mark Henry.  The match is next.

Punk lays Henry out with a TV monitor, and is DQ’d for the loss.  Here comes Jericho, with some beer, while Henry lays out Punk.

Punk tries to fight back with Jericho, but Chris lays him out with a code breaker, and douse him with beer, raises the WWE Title, and leaves.

Here comes Zack Ryder, ready for a match.  He is facing Alberto Del Rio.

And of course, Del Rio made Zack tap out with ease by giving him the Cross Arm Breaker.

And now The Three Stooges will grace us with their appearance, boy this segment will not be good.

Suddenly Curly has transformed himself into Hulk Hogan, brother, and the crowd hates every second.  But here comes Kane.

Moe and Larry runs off, but Kane lays Curly out with a Chokeslam.

Why not, Kane Chokeslammed Pete Rose, he can do the same thing to Curly.

Josh Matthews is with Mark Henry.  They show us footage of Mark laying out Punk, and Mark tells us last week, he beat Punk with a Countout, tonight, he beat him by DQ.  So Laurinaitis told him next week, he faces Punk in a No DQ match.

When we come back, we see footage from earlier tonight when Lesnar and Cena went at it.

Josh Matthews is with Brock, and he literally asks him “Brock, are you proud to be back in WWE?”

Who writes that crap?

Brock just laughs it off, and says yes he is.  He is proud of everything he has ever done, he was in WWE, he was WWE Champion, he left WWE, went on to UFC, made them a boat load of money, he won their title, and left, and now is back to show John Cena that he isn’t as good as he thinks he is.

Well said.

“End of an Era” video footage, coming from the wrestlers’ perspectives, watching the match at Wrestlemania.  It says it all.

Our main event, David Otunga Vs John Cena is up next.

Cena defeated Otunga with the Attitude Adjustment, after the match, Lesnar clipped Cena, and laid him out again, with the F5 and ends the show.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

The show started off fantastic, but ended with a thud.  I have no problem with WWE igniting guest stars every now and then, but it needs to be the right mix.  Example, Hugh Jackman was a great choice last year, when he promoted his movie, and interacted with the other wrestlers, but when you lay the foundation to two big key angles of CM Punk vs Chris Jericho and John Cena Vs Brock Lesnar, then you give us The Three Stooges, it’s just not a good mix, and thankfully the crowd wasn’t buying it either.  I loved the Stooges when I was growing up, but I have no desire to see this movie, and I think the majority of the world believes that too.  Just not a good mix with any of this.

But the highlight of the show was Jericho Vs Punk and Lesnar Vs Cena.  I do expect the buildup of Extreme Rules to heat up next week however.  I’ll give this week a pass.
