WWE Friday Night Smackdown 9/14/12

I am watching this on Youtube, so if you haven’t seen the show yet, these are spoilers, so you have been warned.

We see footage from last week when Booker T banned The Brogue Kick from Sheamus, and we come from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  Josh Matthews and Michael Cole join us, with David Otunga, Alberto Del Rio, and Ricardo Rodriguez in the ring.

ADR is giving credit to Booker T for making the right decision and banning The Brogue Kick, now, and forever.  He wants Ricardo Rodriguez, his good friend to share some thoughts.

Ricardo thanks the fans and his family for their support, especially his Mother.  Ricardo starts to cry over the whole matter.

David Otunga is speaking.  He tells us that AJ Lee didn’t understand the ramifications of what she did, putting Otunga in the ring against Sheamus.  He took an incredible Brogue Kick, and sporting a neck brace of his own, he has the damage inflicted on him.  But like Ricardo, he is very resilient.  But to show the damage the Brogue Kick can inflict, they are calling someone else to speak out, and that is the former 2-time World Heavyweight Champion, Christian.

We see footage from last year’s Night of Champions, when Sheamus nails Christian with the Brogue Kick.  Christian makes it clear, he doesn’t like Del Rio and he isn’t speaking out because of him, but for the others in the back who have suffered too, but are afraid to speak out.  Christian had shoulder surgery recently, and he hasn’t been the same since getting hit.  So therefore, even though he has a tremendous amount of respect for Sheamus, he too wants The Brogue Kick banned, for life.

As he continues to speak from his home, Otunga cuts off, and says more things, but is interrupted by Daniel Bryan?

Daniel is here to say he is a victim.  Otunga has said that he will recover handsomely, well people have been saying that Daniel has a goatface.  He doesn’t have a goatface, but if he does, it’s because of Sheamus Brogue Kicking him many times.

But he also wants to thank Booker T for giving him a Wrestlemania Rematch against Sheamus.  He wants to get revenge on Sheamus for lasting 18 seconds, his worst moment in his career.  He has asked for this rematch, because he wants to prove beyond a shadow of doubt that when Sheamus beat him in 18 seconds, it was because he caught him by surprise, and that will not happen tonight.

Here comes Sheamus.

Hey goatface, are you saying that if the Brogue Kick had not caught him, he would not have been beaten by 18 seconds?  You didn’t lose because of the Brogue Kick, you lost because of Sheamus.

And when he beats Daniel tonight, and after he beats Del Rio this Sunday, that those who lose in history, are bound to repeat it.

He goes after Otunga, but instead rips off his neckbrace, and leaves.

Tonight, Sheamus Vs Daniel Bryan, and coming up next, Sin Cara Vs The Miz.

Sin Cara Vs The Miz, is up now.

Sin Cara defeats The Miz with a rollup, and completely caught The Miz by surprise here.

Still to come tonight, Randy Orton faces Tensai, for the first time ever.

The Miz is being interviewed by Matt Striker, he wants The Miz to comment on he’ll be facing an unnamed opponent at Night of Champions.  Miz wants to know why Cody Rhodes embarrassed him this past Monday night, and Cody comes in to make it simple, he wants HIS Intercontinental Title back, the very same title he brought back to prestige with.  Rey Mysterio comes in, he pinned The Miz, so he wants a title shot, and Sin Cara shows up, he points to the Intercontinental Title, either that or, he saw a burrito stand in the arena.

The Miz states that if the title had been on the line against either Rey or Sin Cara, he would have beaten them, and if he had faced Cody, then he would have beaten him too.

Teddy Long shows up, and on Booker T’s orders, we will have a Fatal 4-Way match at Night of Champions with The Miz Vs Cody Rhodes Vs Rey Mysterio Vs Sin Cara.

Video footage of Kane and Daniel Bryan Vs Kofi Kingston and R-Truth, at Night of Champions.

We are in the back with Dr. Shelby and Kane with Kane holding a big red ball.  It’s to relieve stress, and we see Daniel Bryan coming in.  Daniel wants to know what happened Monday night, and Kane explained he was doing whatever it takes to win the match because he wants to be Tag Team Champion, and so does Daniel.  Dr. Shelby hands Daniel a big ball, and they both have balls.  But Kane’s is bigger, or so he is being told.

Kane Vs Kofi Kingston, one on one, next.

Kane wins the match with a Chokeslam.

After the match, Dr. Shelby shows up at the top of the ramp, and we see Kane coming back to the ring, he grabs Kofi by the throat, and gives him a hug.

Now that is progress.

Matt Striker is with Randy Orton.

Why did he choose to face Tensai tonight, when he has a big match against Dolph Ziggler, at Night of Champions?  Why ask why….drink Bud Dry.

Actually, Tensai had nothing to do tonight, so didn’t Randy so he decided they have a good old-fashioned brawl.  He is also looking forward to facing Dolph Ziggler.  He figures Alberto Del Rio has a slight chance at beating Sheamus, Dolph can cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and become the new World Heavyweight Champion, and Randy can become the new World Heavyweight Champion, later that night.  And he doesn’t like Dolph, so that’s a good enough reason too.

Orton Vs Tensai, next.

Orton wins with a RKO.  A bit of a long match here, but solid work.

Excuse Me…

Vickie Guerrero shows up, she says that under her advisement, Dolph is not here tonight.  But he didn’t like what Randy had said, calling him a self-righteous punk, but this Sunday he will defeat Randy Orton.

Orton said that with Vickie talking to him, this could only mean one thing, and he turns around in time to catch Dolph, who was trying to attack him, but Ziggler leaves the ringside, before Randy could do anything.

Still to come tonight, Sheamus Vs Daniel Bryan in a Wrestlemania Rematch.

Antonio Cesaro is in the ring when we come back.  He will face the winner of the Battle Royal at the Night of Champions Pre-show.  He is insulted by this, and one word he can described right now, outraged.

Canada’s own Tyson Kidd comes to the ring, and he says this in Canadian….At Night of Champions, he will be a former United States Champion, eh.

And Antonio takes care of Tyson, squashes him like a bug.

But here comes Brodus Clay, and he isn’t calling his Momma, at least not right now.

Tyson Kidd shows up, kicks Cesaro to distract him long enough for Brodus to squash him with the splash.

Still to come tonight, Wrestlemania Rematch, Daniel Bryan Vs Sheamus.

When we come back, Wade Barrett shows up.  He says last week he issued his Barrett Barrage, and nobody answered the challenge, but next week, he will be in the ring, and promises it starts then, and nobody can stop him.

Kaitlyn, the Number One Contender to the Divas Title will face Beth Phoenix.

Kaitlyn wins the match with a Scorpion Death Drop.  Yup, that is how she won the match, so I guess that is her finishing move.

Layla was watching backstage, and I believe she was impressed.

Still to come, Sheamus Vs Daniel Bryan, in a Wrestlemania Rematch.

Raw Rebound is on now, featuring John Cena, CM Punk, and Bret “Hitman” Hart.

I am not watching this on US television, so I have not heard any mention of Jerry “The King” Lawler, instead we see the entire interview with Cena, Hart, and Punk in its entirety, but Jerry is recovering well, so allow me to say that is great news.  Get well soon Jerry.

Night of Champions rundown, and we see Eve Torres, Booker T, and Teddy Long all discussing matters.  It seems that Eve and Booker are on the same page, and Teddy is not.

Our main event, Daniel Bryan Vs Sheamus is up now.

Sheamus wins with the Cloverleaf, while Del Rio, Ricardo, and Otunga watch backstage.

Sheamus ends the night celebrating, and the next stop is in Boston, for Night of Champions.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

This was a decent show tonight, with the buildup to Night of Champions complete.  We basically know what we are getting with the main matches.  The Brogue Kick being banned though, a bit cheesy was explained well by Christian.  The ironic thing though is the Cross Arm Breaker has taken out about the same amount of wrestlers as the Brogue Kick, but whatever.

Kane and Daniel Bryan are going to be an interesting team to watch, and with the two of them, it should be an entertaining match between Kofi and Truth.

The IC Title is set with a 4-Way, and Cody made some valid points in his problems with The Miz.

I still am not sure why the international versions don’t explain what happened to Jerry “The King” Lawler, but then again some of their episodes aren’t even 3 hours long, so they can easily edit that segment out.

What were your thoughts on the show, we are ready for Night of Champions.
