Impact Wrestling Live 2/28/13…Setting Up Lockdown Live In The States
February 28, 2013 4 Comments
We start the show off with footage from last week when Aces and 8’s take out Hulk Hogan before his big match. Bully Ray and Brooke Hogan enter The Impact Zone. Hogan is still at home, resting from his injuries, being beaten up bad. Bully says there is nothing else to say.
We are live in The Impact Zone, with Mike Tenay and Todd Kenneley welcoming us to the show, minus Taz. Because, Bully Ray is in the ring.
Bully Ray has never been more pissed off. Aces and 8’s have caused havoc all around TNA for the last year. They took out Hogan, Sting, Magnus, and many other TNA wrestlers. They ruined his wedding, and ruined a big week last week, when they took out Hogan before his return to the ring. Bully issues a challenge to Devon, that he will get his hands on him someday. But first, he wants to bring out his Lockdown opponent, the same man who was attacked by Aces and 8’s last month, that man is the World Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Hardy.
Here comes the champ.
Never did Bully Ray imagine that they would be standing side by side looking at each other when they are facing each other for the most prestigious prize in our industry, at Lockdown. But he has a bad feeling about this. He doesn’t believe he deserves a title shot, because he is Hulk’s son-in-law. Hulk had other guys, more worthy fight each other in a tournament to determine the Number One Contender for Hardy;s World Heavyweight Title. It wasn’t Bully, and he isn’t sure this is the way he wants to face Hardy. He’s not positive that he is the right guy to face Jeff, at Lockdown.
Hardy says it’s great to be back at Impact…at the Zone. He’s glad that Hogan chose Bully, because they have alot of history. They broke alot of chairs, they climbed alot of ladders, and are now in a higher position. He wishes him luck at Lockdown.
Here comes Bad Influence.
Kazarian said that Bully shouldn’t feel good about the title shot, because he didn’t do anything to earn it. Thunderlips did give Bully a shot. He gave him his daughter, someone has to rub tanning lotion on Brooke.
Daniels calls Bully Raymond, both he and Jefferson do not deserve title shots, and Hardy is lucky he still has the title, because he outwrestled him, and he had an allergic reaction to his face paint. So get out of their ring, so the fans can worship them.
Bully grabs the mic, and takes the Appletini. He took a swig, and put it back in the glass. Bully told him real men don’t drink Appletinis.
Bully and Hardy beat down Bad Influence, and Bully issued the challenge for later tonight. Bad Influence against Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy.
We will find out who is on Team Aces and 8’s, and Team TNA for Lethal Lockdown match, we will also see a Gut Check, featuring two women.
Next, Knockout Title on the line, Velvet Sky Vs Tara.
Magnus is backstage, putting his name in Sting’s head for Team TNA. TNA took an opportunity on a 22-year old kid who was green as grass in Magnus, but the one guy who mentored him was Sting. So Magnus has to give back, why Magnus? Why the hell not?
Gail Kim is joining Todd and Tenay. Gail gets the Knockout Title shot at Lockdown.
Knockout Title match is up, now.
Velvet wins the match with an In Yo Face. She faces Gail Kim, next Sunday.
Austin Aries is on the phone with Bobby Roode. Roode isn’t there yet, and they have a photo shoot. We found out there is a 3-way for the Tag Team Titles next Sunday, with Bad Influence and Chavo, and Hernandez. Austin can beat anyone by himself.
Chavo tells Austin he has a match tonight, but not against Chavo, but against Hernandez.
Kenny King is outside earlier tonight. He is the X-Division, even though he is not the Champion.
He confronts RVD, and asks him when is he going to get his title shot, he is better than Kenny. RVD issues a challenge tonight against Kenny. If he wins, he gets a title shot, but if Kenny loses, he will never receive a X-Division Title shot again.
Taz joins us now at the announce table, while we have Hernandez Vs Austin Aries.
Austin wins the match with a chain. He used the title though for leverage, against Hernandez.
Sting gives Joseph Park a rib, get it. Anyway, Joseph wants a spot on Team TNA. Sting sees Matt Morgan, and asks him to be a part of Team TNA. But since Sting has something to do with Hogan, the answer is no.
X-Division Title match is up now, RVD Vs Kenny King.
Kenny King wins the X-Division Title with a Royal Flush.
Sting is backstage, he sees Kurt Angle. Kurt asks to see the list of people Sting is choosing, he made his list. Kurt has plans of his own.
Tonight, Bad Influence will face Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray.
We see video footage of Hogan being attacked by Aces and 8’s last week, and Hogan tweeted his leg. He’ll be back, brother.
Aces and 8’s make their way to the ring.
So Sting honestly believe he has the squad that can take out this club? It looks like Sting has been drinking that Hulk Hogan Kool-Aid.
This is the team that will dominate TNA. This club will dominate Team TNA. D.O.C, Knox, Anderson, Bischoff, and Devon will shatter Sting’s dreams. The same thing will happen that happened at Bound for Glory. The thing about this Sting, he will lead his team to slaughter.
Now testify to that.
Here comes Sting.
The first member of Team TNA is Samoa Joe.
The second member of Team TNA is “Cowboy” James Storm.
The third member of Team TNA is Magnus.
The fourth, and final teammate, joining Sting is “Showtime” Eric Young.
EY is behind Aces and 8’s, and here comes Team TNA to clean house.
I like this team.
Gut Check is up next, we get a video profile of former Tough Enough contestant Ivelise Felez.
Moments ago, we see what we just saw….Team TNA is announced, including the return of “Showtime” Eric Young. Aces and 8’s leave The Impact Zone, with Kurt Angle following them.
Ivelise is facing Lei’d Tapa.
She is the niece of wrestler The Barbarian, who trained her.
Our Gut Check match is up now, Ivelise Felez Vs Lei’d Tapa. The lovely Taryn Terrell is the referee.
Ivelise wins with a guillotine, making Lei’d tap out. The question is do either of them get a TNA contract? We will find out next week.
Austin Aries informs Hardy in the locker room he is pulling for Hardy to win his tag match tonight, and his match with Bully in 10 days. The reason is because Bully is the new golden child, and he wants Hardy to pull it off.
Next, we will get an update on AJ Styles.
The profile of AJ Styles’ best friend, and his wife. AJ has changed, he is not the same man, and it started with the Claire Lynch saga. Even his wife doubted that he didn’t cheat. AJ comes to the house, and he kicks the camera crew out, and takes off.
The Bro saga continues, with The Shore.
Robbie E. calls Rob Terry to the ring, bro.
Things have gotten out of hand, bro. He messed things up by slapping him last week. He messed a great friendship for 2 years, so for old times sake, let’s get another bro-off, and he’ll start it off.
And of course, Robbie E. makes the breakup official, by smacking a photo of Robbie E on T. The problem is Big Rob no sold it, and wanted a piece of Robbie E.
The battle of the Robbie’s, is on.
Backstage, Bully Ray is working out. Austin Aries comes over, and tells Bully he is rooting for him tonight, and for the World Title match in 10 days.
Bully Ray isn’t buying it, and tells Austin he won’t get a World Title shot anytime soon.
Good talking to you.
Our main event is next.
Kurt Angle is on the hunt for Aces and 8’s.
Our main event, Bad Influence will face Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy.
Hardy and Bully Ray win with an electric chair, and a Swanton, with Hardy pinning Kazarian.
The show ends with Kurt Angle entering the clubhouse it seems. He takes out Anderson, storms into a door, and see a masked man. Kurt lays him out with a beer bottle, unmasks the person, and knows who it is, but we don’t. The rest of the Aces and 8’s attack Kurt from behind, and the show ends here.
Kevin’s Thoughts:
A much better show tonight, and it’s especially good when everyone is here, and counting. Including the World Heavyweight Champion. I liked the opening promo with doubt in the woods, so to speak with Bully Ray, not quite feels he earns a title shot, but with Jeff accepting the challenge, everything is good. Good spot for Bad Influence, and those two did their jobs well.
I also liked the revelation of Team TNA, and Team Aces and 8’s. I guess it will be a 5-on-5 match. If you don’t know what Lethal Lockdown is, it’s more or less a Wargames match, with the same rules in tact. Expect to see some chaos, and you know how I feel about chaos.
Who is behind the mask? Here is a guess, it might be Samoa Joe. We know, whoever it is, it’s a big dude, but I surely hope we don’t get another cheesy kidnapping next week. Let’s just have Kurt get amnesia, or something else.
The Gut Check at this point, I can either do with it, or do away with it. I hope they keep both girls though, because the women’s division can always grow. But the match didn’t do much for me, perhaps it was a size clash? Not sure, but I do believe Ivelise will stick around, just because she has a bit of a name value.
Austin Aries was great tonight, stirring the pot. But then again, you already knew that.
Good X-Division Title match, and we have a new champion. Kenny King is a good choice, and I think Rob Van Dam did everything he could with the title. Moving on now.
Why in the hell wouldn’t Matt Morgan take that spot on Team TNA? What exactly is he doing now, as opposed to the shot Sting offered Matt on a major PPV? Joseph Park disapproves.
The AJ Styles segment was interesting, not sure where they are headed with this, but it reminds me of what they did with Bobby Roode, after he won the World Heavyweight Title.
Speaking of Roode, where was he? They had a photo shoot to do.
Plenty of action, but it wasn’t too much, so in all, a solid show tonight.
Now we are on the road to Lockdown. Which means I will not cover next week’s Impact Wrestling, because I am headed to Springfield, Ohio next weekend for my team’s Bowling State Tournament. I am getting home that Sunday evening, which means I might not get to watch Lockdown live, but I will order it that week, at some point, and give you my thoughts. I will also do a report early next week, talking about The Impact Zone, and sharing my thoughts on the new venture TNA is taking, on the road. So be on the lookout for that.
What were your thoughts on the show? Send them to me, here.
