WWE Friday Night Smackdown 3/15/13…Ryback Vs The World’s Strongest Man

We kick things off with Michael Cole welcoming us to the show, and we have a match. It’s going to be Sheamus and Randy Orton face Team Rhodes Scholars.

Indeed, it is Michael Cole, Josh Matthews, and Brad Maddox?

Orton and Sheamus win the match with a RKO on Rhodes. They are calling this team The Celtic Vipers.

The Shield make their way to ringside. But instead, they are on the Titantron.

They won’t harm them tonight, but that ring they are standing in is theirs. Ask Big Show, they dropped him out this past Monday. They have taken out many superstars, including The Rock and John Cena, many times. Yet they are going to be in the main event at Wrestlemania, which is served with injustice. But enough of that, they find a tag partner. Make sure it’s the right partner.

Orton is in, and Sheamus said that they will see them at Wrestlemania.

Rollins brings up the Showcase of Immortals, becomes The Showcase of Justice.

Tonight, Chris Jericho will face The Number One Contender, Jack Swagger. We will also see Ryback face Mark Henry.

More film shills, this time “The Call”.

Faaaaaawwwwwnnnnndannnnnnnngoooooo premieres tonight.

We go back to this past week’s Monday Night Raw, when Brock Lesnar shows up, and takes out the New Age Outlaws.

Paul Heyman makes it clear, Brock wants HHH at Wrestlemania, but only if they choose the stipulation after HHH signs the contract.

Backstage, Big Show wants to be Orton and Sheamus’ partner against The Shield. They need someone who is destructive, and a warrior. They agree with that, which is why they chose Ryback.

The two men go face to face, and still to come tonight, Mark Henry will face Ryback.

When we come back, Diva tag match. Layla and Kaitlyn taking on Tamina Snuka and Aksana.

Layla and Kaitlyn win with a Cross Body Lateral Press by Layla, giving Kaitlyn a blind tag.

The Bella Twins want to introduce themselves to Cameron and Naomi, and they attack them both. Officials come over to break them up.

Cole, Maddox, and Matthews show us the Raw Rebound, featuring the Tribute to Paul Bearer. Kane defeated CM Punk, and Punk stole the urn after the match.

Kane is in action, and will face Dolph Ziggler, next.

Ziggler wins the match with a Zig Zag, with some aided help from Big E. Langston, distracting Kane, and taking out Daniel Bryan.

After the match, Dolph taunts Kane, but Kane grabs Dolph’s throat, but Big E. landed The Big Ending on Kane.

More video with Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez, mocking Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter.

Truth and Chris Jericho are laughing over this, but Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter are not.

Chris said he needs to be more focused on the World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania, but more importantly, he has a match with Y2J. So until he can beat Jericho he suggests he shut the hell up.

Faaawwwwwwwnnnnndaaaaaaaaaangoooooo premieres, next.

JBL is not here tonight, he is climbing up rocks, and Touting about it. But it’s all for a good cause, for charity. You can learn more by going to Sevensummitsforkids.com.

Great Khali is in the ring, he will face Faaaaaaaawwwnnnnnndaaaaaaaaangooooooooo.

Fandango wants Khali to pronounce his name correctly, and we know that won’t happen. So Faaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnndaaaaaaaaaangoooooooooooo isn’t wrestling tonight.

Next, our main event preview for Wrestlemania 29.

23 days away from history.

Matt Striker is with Sheamus and Orton. The odds are in their favor, and we will a preview for what happens to The Shield tonight against Mark Henry.

The Shield lay out both Orton and Sheamus, and Striker was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

We come back and see Booker T and Teddy Long check on Orton and Sheamus. Ryback checks on them, but Booker wants him to focus on Mark Henry, and that match is set now.

There is no match, because The Shield come out right after they hook up. Ryback holds his own in the first cycle, but Mark henry re-enters the ring, and this is when Shield lays him out, and gives him a Triple Powerbomb. After that happens, Henry comes back into the ring and gives him a World’s Strongest Slam. That’s what he does.

Moments ago, we see what we just saw.

Our main event, Jack Swagger Vs Chris Jericho is set now.

Swagger wins with a Gut Wrench Powerbomb, defeating Jericho in what was a very good match. Swagger is ready for his Wrestlemania match against Del Rio.

The show ends with Swagger celebrating.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

This coming Monday night is very important for the mid-card matches at Wrestlemania. We have to have a defined, clear path for some of the other matches. Just a few weeks ago, they made it clear it would be Mark Henry Vs Ryback, and Big Show teaming with Orton and Sheamus against The Shield. But if you go by what they said tonight, Ryback is in that 6 man tag, and Mark Henry doesn’t have an opponent. I still believe we will see the original path, somehow, someway, but it must be defined this Monday.

I enjoyed the main event, it set the tone for everything else in the show, which was solid. I have to also think Fandango must debut soon, perhaps this Monday, when “Dancing with the Stars” kick off their season premiere? Just saying.

A good show tonight, what were your thoughts? Send them to me here.
