WWE Monday Night Raw 8/12/13…CM Punk Vs Paul Heyman

We are 6 days away from Summerslam. Expect some big segments tonight, and we should end with the CM Punk Vs Paul Heyman fight. Not a match, but a fight.

Here we go.

We are live in Sacramento tonight with the Number One Contender to the WWE Title kicking the show off.

It will be Daniel Bryan Vs Wade Barrett starting the show off.

The Raw General Manager Brad Maddox is the special guest referee for the match.

Wade Barrett wins the match with a very fast rollup and count by Brad Maddox.

Daniel has Brad cornered here, and charges after him but Brad runs away.

Tonight, Miz TV will have John Cena and Daniel Bryan as his guests.

We will also see CM Punk Vs Paul Heyman, but next….Damien Sandow Vs Randy Orton. Battle of the Mr. Money in the Banks.

Orton wins the match with a RKO when Cody tried to take the briefcase, this allowed Damien to turn his back, and well we know how that is.

RVD is stretching, getting ready for his match later tonight, which is a 20 man Battle Royal to determine who faces Dean Ambrose for the United States Title at Summerslam.

The Shield are backstage with a message of their own. They are tired of the same, old formula where the same superstars are around. This is a new generation, and they challenge anyone to step into the ring with them for the WWE Tag Team Titles.

When we come back, Michael Cole, JBL, and Jerry “The King” Lawler welcome us to the show. Summerslam will feature The Beast Vs The Best. We see the same footage from Smackdown with Brock Lesnar.

You remember that, right? The “exclusive” video that is so exclusive that we see it again on Raw?

Well, this time, Josh Matthews is standing by with CM Punk.

Tonight, he is facing his good friend Paul Heyman. Paul will find out why he is the best in the world, and invites Brock Lesnar to come out and have a good seat.

The Great Khali and Natalya are headed to the ring, they will be in action, next.

Great Khali and Natalya will face AJ Lee and Big E. Langston.

And of course, logic is telling us that AJ and Big E. wins, since they have a Summerslam match with Dolph and Kaitlyn, but Natalya and Khali win with AJ tapping out to the Sharpshooter….twice.

I guess the referee screwed up, because Natalya uses the move twice.

Vince McMahon is headed to the ring, next.

This Sunday, we have an hour-long Summerslam Kick-Off, featuring Shawn Michaels and Booker T as 2 of the guest panelists, and the United States Title will be on the line, with Dean Ambrose facing the winner of the Battle Royal tonight.

Vince comes out, and states we had a bit of a controversy concerning the match earlier tonight and wants Brad Maddox to come out.

Brad does come out, and admits he made a mistake, he was over-excited about being the special guest referee tonight, and did a fast count. He wants a second chance, to be the special guest referee at Summerslam.

The crowd doesn’t want to see it.

Vince wants Brad to be impartial, and he’ll call it down the line, despite feelings for Cena or Daniel Bryan. Brad said he will call it down the middle, and be impartial, therefore, Brad Maddox will be the special guest referee at Summerslam.

Here comes HHH.

HHH is not here to air any dirty laundry, the crowd is happy to see him. They haven’t agreed on many things lately, but given the importance of this match Sunday than the WWE Championship, he has to agree that he needs someone to take charge of this match. He does think he needs someone to be impartial, and call it down the line, and someone with the guts that will not be intimidated by anyone, or anything. He just doesn’t think he is referring to Brad Maddox, he thinks he is referring to himself.

And with that, HHH pedigrees Brad Maddox.

Vince storms off, and leaves Brad out to dry, which is funny.

Miz TV tonight, with John Cena and Daniel Bryan.

Kane is facing Titus O’ Neil.

Kane wins with a Chokeslam, and The Wyatt Family make their presence known.

But this time, Kane was ready for them and he bailed before Rowan and Harper could go after him. Bray loved it though, and was laughing while the flames went through the ring.

Summerslam, Kane and Bray Wyatt collide in a ring of fire match.

Josh Matthews are with the new stars of “Total Divas”, The Bella Twins.

The Bellas say they own the divas, and Natalya challenges Brie to a match at Summerslam, and we will find out who runs the divas. She can bring her sister, and rat friend of hers, who is Eva Marie, and she will bring hers….The Funkettes.

The match is on, and Brie slaps Natalya.

The World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio makes his way to the ring, he will face Kofi Kingston.

Del Rio wins with a Cross Arm Breaker.

Mark Henry is stretching, getting ready for the 20 man Battle Royal later tonight.

When we come back, we see a nice video about Christian.

Renee Young interviews Christian, and he said that video showed him how much hard work he has put the last few year coming back from an injury. At Summerslam, he will become a 3-time World Champion, and will prove that all he needed was one more match.

Del Rio laughs and speaks in Spanish, telling him after Summerslam, he will show us he won’t have any more matches.

Zeb Colter brings out the Real Americans, and reminds us that Sacramento is no better than any American town, who allows 2.5 million illegal immigrants into our country, but now we will see The Real Americans in action.

We The People.

They will face The Uso’s, one more time.

The Uso’s win the match with a rollup, pinning Swagger.

Miz TV, featuring John Cena and Daniel Bryan is next.

Miz TV is on now, remember The Miz is hosting Summerslam, so he brings out Daniel Bryan and John Cena.

The big news coming out tonight is HHH will be the special guest referee for the match at Summerslam.

Daniel thinks someone finally stood up to Mr. McMahon, and they can have a good match at Summerslam.

Cena agrees, and also bashes Miz TV at the same time.

Miz brings up the two promos they brought up last week, so what is John’s real issues with Daniel.

Cena says that the issue lies around the WWE Championship. Daniel Bryan wants to be the WWE Champion, and Cena is the WWE Champion.

Miz tries to bring up controversy, but Daniel cuts him off and says it is obvious that if he doesn’t shut up, he will punch him in the face.

Daniel doesn’t get it, people like Cena believe that all Daniel will do is just put up a great fight, John tries to cut him off, and Daniel cuts him off.

Last week, Cena said some things that made people get off their feet. Whether it’s that they cheered or booed. But he saw the red light, and did what he does best. Which is why he doesn’t watch TV, he’s all substance, but isn’t in it for the wrestling.

The shirt he is wearing is a parody of Cena, which is a parody of wrestling. He doesn’t want to be a parody. He wants to be the WWE Champion to represent there is nobody better than Daniel Bryan.

Now Cena’s shirt comes off.

Cena is not a parody, and he’s surprised that Daniel brought that up. All of this, Cena does it for this, the fans. All of the fans chant yes, or no for Daniel. People cheer for him, or they boo him, but they inflict emotion. This is just a T-shirt, that is like saying the American Flag is just a cloth. But this isn’t about a cloth, this is about loyalty. He will fight for those fans, he has been in hostile environments before. Yet here he is, still standing, and still wrestling. Daniel won’t be the first person that talks about Cena’s 5 moves of doom. He isn’t the first, and won’t be the last. He’s not doing this for guys like Daniel, he is doing this for the kids, for their parents. For the little boy Dakota that he just met today, for Make-A-Wish Foundation. His father pulled him aside after meeting him, and thanked him, because he inspires to live.

And what John has been doing for 12 years is wrestling, in front of many different environments, different countries, and he was doing what he was holding the WWE Title. So please think he is a joke, because that is what every one of his peers have thought of him, and he has beaten them all. A list that includes HHH, Shawn Michaels, Batista, CM Punk, The Rock.

Daniel says that he thinks that he doesn’t belong in that class, and Cena confirmed it, because while he is good, and on a roll, he isn’t in their league yet. The shirt says “Respect the Beard”, you have to earn his respect. If he becomes the WWE Champion, then he will earn his respect.

Daniel confirms that Cena doesn’t respect him, because Cena is an 11 time WWE Champion, while Daniel would love to just hold it once. For Cena, this is just another Summerslam, but for Daniel, this is the biggest match of his life.

There is a custom in Japan where opponents would fire each other up, they would slap each other in the face as hard as they can.

He wishes he can, but he can’t. Because Cena isn’t a wrestler, and he doesn’t deserve it.

Cena steps aside, wanting Daniel to slap him. He slaps Daniel, daring him to, but Daniel refuses to slap him.

Here comes HHH to settle things down, and here comes Randy Orton.

The segment ends here, and later tonight….CM Punk Vs Paul Heyman.

Well, we had one great segment, and came across a very confusing segment, which seems to be the theme of the night here.

R-Truth and Fandango have a bit of a dance-off, and when Summer Rae and Fandango beat Truth soundly, R-Truth throws Fandango out of the ring.

The 20-Man Battle Royal is next.

When we come back, Paul Heyman, decked out in a suit is taping up with Curtis Axel. Curtis asks him if he is okay, and he responds by saying he is starting to have second thoughts.

20-Man Battle Royal, with the winner getting a United States Title match against Dean Ambrose at the Summerslam Kick-Off Party is next.

Rob Van Dam wins the 20-Man Battle Royal, eliminating Mark Henry last, and will now face Dean Ambrose for the United States Title at the Summerslam Kick-Off.

After the match, Mark Henry came back to the ring, and gave RVD a fist bump.

Here comes The Shield, with RVD and Mark Henry waiting for the fight.

Here comes The Big Show to even the odds, it seems.

CM Punk Vs Paul Heyman is next.

Heyman is on the mic, and he informs Punk that he doesn’t blame him entirely on himself, but he blames his worshipers too, because they took Punk away from his best friend. Heyman brings up that he has heard all week from the fans that this is a trap, no…..really? Of course it is a trap, it’s a conspiracy, and allow him to introduce his co-conspirator, his new best friend….Brock Lesnar.

Here comes The Beast.

He doesn’t have to sell us The Best Vs The Beast, he will show us.

We now see a video of The Beast….Brock Lesnar.

Heyman wants to reveal the plan they have, the plan is so sinister that it can work. Here is the trap, Heyman is willing to fight CM Punk, just come on out and fight himself…and Brock Lesnar.

In a 2 on 1 Handicap match, that is what a hero does. But all heroes are stupid. They don’t have any other choice, or option. But Punk does have a choice, or an option and that is not to fight them, and disappoint every single one of the fans, and choose to fight another day, and that day will be this Sunday, at Summerslam.

So they demand an answer, will Punk play the smart coward, or the stupid hero?

Here comes CM Punk.

Punk comes from behind, grabs a camera, and nails Brock with it.

We have our answer, and the match is on.

Well, we don’t have a match, but Punk kicks Brock’s ass, and Heyman runs away. Curtis Axel runs out, but is met with a GTS, ending the show.

Punk is the best in the world.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

For all of the fire this show was supposed to be, it sure fizzled. So many confusing segments, with people winning matches that shouldn’t, and referees screwing up, and various segments that did not make sense.

RVD, who came back to the company with this awesome video is relegated to a Kick-off show match the very next month? Okay, it’s for the United States Title, and I am sure it will be a great match, but why not include it in the PPV?

Also, I am sure that they were supposed to make Big Show and Mark Henry Vs Rollins and Reigns, but there seemed to be running out of time, so they couldn’t do it.

And even the ending was a big thud. I knew Heyman vs Punk was not going to happen, but I just wasn’t feeling the ending.

The best segment, and the segment that sold the PPV was Miz TV, with Cena and Bryan. That promo the two had was money. I always said that Cena is best when he gives a serious promo, and tonight, he was money. But so was Bryan, the whole Superstar Vs Wrestler is an intriguing storyline that I just don’t think HHH fits into the equation. I just have a bad feeling that no matter who wins, Randy Orton will become the Corporate Champion, with HHH costing the WWE Champion the match.

But having said that, Summerslam looks to be a loaded card. What were your thoughts on the show? Send me your thoughts here.
