WWE Summerslam 8/18/13

Daniel Bryan Vs John Cena. Wrestler Vs Entertainer. CM Punk Vs Brock Lesnar. The Best Vs The Beast. These are the two big storylines WWE is promoting for us, and tonight is the night we see what happens. It’s the biggest party of the summer, keep checking on this page throughout the night, because I have a feeling something big is going to happen.

But first, the Summerslam Kick-Off party that starts at 7:00.

Here we go.

Josh Matthews (Why not Renee Young?), Booker T, Shawn Michaels, and Vickie Guerrero welcome us to the show.

In the Kick-Off, we will see Rob Van Dam face Drew Ambrose for the “prestigious” (That’s what Matthews called it) United States Championship.

Renee Young is in the Social Media Lounge, she wants us to communicate with her via Twitter, WWE.com, or even Tout. What was our favorite Summerslam moment over the years?

50 minutes away from The Best Vs The Beast. Video showcasing that epic match.

We are joined by Paul Heyman now.

Paul tells us we tell David Vs Goliath to tell our children there are heroes, but he assures us there isn’t. Great, what do I tell my kids now, Paul?

Brock will take Punk out to the point we will never see Punk again. He tells us that tonight’s match with Punk Vs Lesnar is a No DQ match.

Tony Dawson is with some fans earlier today from Dublin, Ireland.

I guess to show us that fans all over the world come to Summerslam?

We are 45 minutes away from the big show.

Total Divas ad, I am interested in seeing the ratings for tonight, since many WWE fans will be watching this show.

Later tonight, Natalya is facing Brie Bella.

Vickie is in total character here, as opposed to last month when she was herself.

Later tonight, Kaitlyn and Dolph Ziggler will face AJ Lee and Big E. Langston, and we see footage from that.

Renee Young wants us to tweet her, or send her a Tweet about what we want to see at Summerslam.

John Cena Vs Daniel Bryan video is shown now.

The panelists give us their take on who will win the WWE Title.

Shawn and Booker believe the time might be right for Daniel.

Tony is with other fans from around the world.

JBL, Michael Cole, and Jerry “The King” Lawler welcome us to the show, and give us a rundown of tonight’s show.

Our first match is up now, for the United States Championship. Dean Ambrose Vs Rob Van Dam.

Ambrose was DQ’d when Reigns speared RVD after a Five Star Frogsplash. We saw The Shield come out, and we also saw Henry and Big Show come out earlier in the match too.

We go back to the panelists.

Renee Young is with us, urging us to tweet.

All of the touts it seems are from the people at the event. Tout is not working out too well here.

Ring of Fire match with Kane Vs Bray Wyatt will kick the show off.

The Wyatt Family Vs Kane video is up now, follow the buzzards.

The ring is set, Summerslam is minutes away.

The Miz welcomes us to Summerslam.

He wants to remind us we have two main events. The Best Vs The Beast, CM Punk Vs Brock Lesnar, and The Beard Vs The Champ, John Cena Vs Daniel Bryan, with HHH as the special guest ref.

Here comes Fandango and Summer Rae.

They are dancing around The Miz, as he welcomes us to Summerslam.

Michael Cole, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and JBL welcome us to the show.

Lilian Garcia tells us Jo-Jo from Total Divas will sing the national anthem.

Kane Vs Bray Wyatt, Ring of Fire match is up now.

Bray Wyatt wins the match with a Sister Abigail on Kane. Rowen and Harper tried throughout the match to help Bray, but the flames stopped them, but the found a blanket from the firemen and covered one side of the flames, and took down on Kane.

This was a difficult match, but the end result was Bray picking up the win.

Rowen and Harper drag Kane out of the ring, put his head on a ramp, and took the other ramp and nails his head with it.

Now The Wyatt Family are dragging Kane away.

The Ultimate Warrior is added to the new WWE2K14, coming October 29th, featuring 30 years of Wrestlemania.

The Kick-off panelists are back.

Bray Wyatt had a great debut, but emotionally, this was not what they expected.

We hear from Paul Heyman, who earlier tonight told us that Punk Vs Lesnar is now a No DQ match.

Damien Sandow Vs Cody Rhodes, now.

The clean-shaven Cody Rhodes wins the match with Crossroads. He picks up the needed victory over Mr. Money in the Bank.

Our next match is for the World Heavyweight Title. Christian Vs Alberto Del Rio. One more match.

Del Rio forced Lilian Garcia to introduce him in spanish, and Del Rio retains his World Heavyweight Title by making Christian tap out to a Cross Arm Breaker in what was a very good match here.

Renee Young interviews ADR, he says this is a great night because he is still our champion. But more importantly, he is the one representing the Latinos.

The Mexican people need someone to look up to, a hero and an idol. When they are at the bottom, they need someone to tell them everyone will be alright. And his name is the World Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Del Rio.

Summerslam Access is being shown here, and we see that the team of Natalya and Marie Menounous won their match, defeating Brie Bella and Eve Marie.

The Miz interviews Maria, and this whole thing started with a Twitter war between Maria and The Bellas.

But we see Fandango and Summer Rae interrupt the fun, dancing.

Brie Bella Vs Natalya, now.

Natalya wins the match with a Sharpshooter. We saw all of the Total Divas get involved here.

Earlier today, we see Yoshi Tatsu is still being employed. Ryback is bullying the catering again.

CM Punk Vs Brock Lesnar….The Best Vs The Beast in a No DQ match, now.

Brock Lesnar wins the match with a F5, after Punk had Paul Heyman in an Anaconda Vice, but Brock saved Heyman.

But that doesn’t describe what was hands down the best match of the night, and a Match of the Year candidate. I don’t say that often, but my god, this match had everything.

It will be tough for Cena Vs Bryan to follow, but I can’t wait.

The crowd is chanting for Punk, an incredible match and rightfully deserved.

Some fan answered a challenged to get splashed by Mark Henry for free tickets to Summerslam. A very bold fan.

A mixed tag match of Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn taking on Big E. Langston and AJ Lee, now.

Ziggler and Kaitlyn over Big E. and AJ with Ziggler hitting the Zig Zag, and Kaitlyn spearing AJ on the outside. Oddly enough, no Layla at ringside.

WWE2K14 coming on October 29th.

The Miz is telling us how great the night has been, and here is Fandango and Summer Rae. Fandango is about to say his name, but Miz decks him.

Celebrities galore here at Summerslam, and we go to the Summerslam panel.

Picks for Bryan vs Cena tonight.

HBK is going with Daniel. Booker doesn’t pick, because he asks if Cena is hungry, which is a good question. Vickie has Daniel.

Our main event, Cena vs Bryan, with HHH as the special guest ref is up now.

Daniel Bryan defeats John Cena with a kick to the head, becoming the new WWE Champion.

A very good match, and the best thing was the great job HHH did as a referee, not interfering at all.

After the match, Cena shook his hand, and walked away.

But here comes Randy Orton….

Orton acts like he is going to cash it in, but he walks away. But HHH turns on Daniel, and pedigrees him, so Randy can cash in the title. He does it, and the bell is rung.

Orton just pins him, no RKO, but pins him for the….

Orton becomes a 7-time WWE Champion.

The show ends with HHH and Orton celebrating in the ring.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

And we might have our Wrestlemania match planned ahead….Daniel Bryan Vs HHH. You know it’s going to happen, and for the first time since 2006, HHH is a heel. And possibly Orton is too, because let’s face it, what else can you do with him. I thought though they would have Orton lose, and Daniel sneak away with the win, but they want Daniel to chase the title.

Give Cena credit, and you know it takes alot for me to do this, but the man worked hard for this match while he was hurt. I have no idea if he is planning to take some time away, but he sure acted like it after his match, telling Daniel he earned this win. But some reason, the idea of Daniel feuding with the McMahons could be very entertaining, and in some way, make his career even bigger.

The Best vs The Beast delivered too, those two men had an incredible fight. You have to think these two men will face each other, probably at Wrestlemania. I can’t think any other time Brock would come back, unless it’s at Survivor Series.

This was the best Summerslam since 2002 where Brock and The Rock headlined. World Heavyweight Title match was good too, and Christian shows that he might still be an underrated performer.

So the question becomes where do we go from here? I guess we will find out, but Night of Champions is next, and we’ll see tomorrow night on Raw what happens there. What did you think of the show? Send me your thoughts here.

Christian has always been underrated..I saw he and Swagger deliver a great match in Providence a few years ago for the ECWWWE Title..guy saves some of his best stuff for PPVs..

You could see the Orton angle coming from miles away…it had been rumored for weeks..so now he gets his heel turn…the angle is supposed to be a battle for control of WWE between Trips and Vince…

I could see Orton/Bryan at Mania..give Randy a decent run with the belt…

Wonder what logos they’ll have on the belt now that Cena has dropped it..he’s supposed to be getting that elbow fixed…let’s hope they fix his music as well..

I’ve been reading all day that this was a solid card, executed well…now if they just do the same for WrestleMania, all would be right with the world…

    • I think we will see Bryan Vs HHH at Mania, because they are already promoting Bryan Vs Orton for NOC in September. I want to see a brand new match for Mania, and Bryan vs HHH with control of WWE would be fine with me. But the execution was done very well. The best part was for a moment I forgot HHH was the ref. Which makes what he did mean more.
