WWE Smackdown Live 7/26/16…A New Era Has Begun

A new theme, a new attitude, and my 1,000th post.  Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Smackdown Live!!

We are live, in First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.

Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon welcome us to the show.  We have the Smackdown superstars surround the ring.

They introduce us to the WWE Champion, Dean Ambrose.

Dean wants to fight, so he wants to know who will step up, and be the opponent at Summerslam.

Daniel informs us we will have a 6 Pack Challenge tonight, to determine who Dean faces at Summerslam.

The 6 men are….

John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, AJ Styles, and the 6th spot is open to anyone.

The 6th man will be the winner of a Battle Royal.  And that is next.

Apollo Crews picks up the win, last eliminating Kane, after Kane eliminates Zack Ryder and Kalisto.

I love this, because Smackdown gives Apollo the best chance to shine.

He advances to the 6-Pack Challenge, and Renee Young gets some word from Apollo.

He is happy, but he won’t celebrate, until he wins the main event and heads to Summerslam.

Number One Contender 6-Pack Challenge is tonight.

Next, it’s Becky Lynch Vs Natalya, brought to you by Mountain Dew….Do The Dew.

Shelton Benjamin is returning to Smackdown.

Awesome.

Brock Lesnar will be on Raw next Monday.

For years, Dolph Ziggler has tried to break that glass ceiling.  Ziggler was a 5-year-old from Cleveland who went to his first Wrestling show, and knew he would do this growing up, and steal the show.  But along the way, he has gotten lost.  That ends tonight, after the show ends, and Ziggler is on his way to Summerslam.

Natalya Vs Becky Lynch is now.

Becky Lynch picks up the win, with the Disarmer, making Natalya tap out.

Becky is excited about her win, but here comes Alexa Bliss.

She calls herself the biggest rising star on Smackdown, and she is the personification of a new era.

Naomi comes out, tells us Alexa hasn’t even set foot in the WWE ring, so she needs to step aside.

Here comes Carmella.  Her name is Carmella, and she is the Queen of Statin Island.

But now comes Eva Marie, with the superstar treatment, which is hilarious.

Our women wrestlers in the Smackdown division.

6-Pack Challenge match is tonight.

The Miz is coming out, next.

Baron Corbin isn’t winning this match for anyone, but himself.

The Miz is in the ring, ready for Miz TV.

Maryse introduces us to her husband, The must-see IC Champion, The Miz.

Tonight, his guest is “The Legend Killer”, and through Evolution, he has built a legacy.  Ladies and gentlemen, his guest is none other than The Miz.

And we get an interview with The Miz interviewing….The Miz.

He has it all, the looks, the fame, the wife, the Intercontinental Championship.

He is what we aren’t, successful.

Here comes Randy Orton.

Randy heard Miz’s monologue, and he just felt like he had to come out.

Miz wanted to know why Randy came out here, when he has to face “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar.

Brock is a legend, and Randy is a legend killer.  He knows he is going to Suplex City, but all it takes is one RKO, and he can take him to Viperville.

Miz tells Orton that he hasn’t been in the ring for 9 months, his first match back could be his last.

Orton tells him that he hasn’t been in the ring for 9 months, but he thought he could get his first match against The Intercontinental Champion, here in Buffalo, New York.

How about no.  He can’t just get in the ring, and compete for the IC Title.

Orton doesn’t care about the title tonight, just a friendly competition in the ring, between friends.

Miz reminds Orton he beat him for the WWE Championship, back when they were friends.

Orton asks Miz if he’s scared to get his ass kicked in front of his pretty wife.  He wants to know, who plays the catcher, and who pitches between the two of them.

Maryse accepts the challenge.

We are 4 weeks away from Smackdown, to see Orton Vs Lesnar.  But now, Orton Vs Miz.

Orton beats The Miz with 2 RKOs.

Sweet!!

Tonight, 6-Pack Challenge with the winner facing Ambrose at Summerslam.

We are at The First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.

American Alpha video is playing now.

They will make their Smackdown debut next week.

Heath Slater comes to the ring, decks someone in the ring, and grabs a mic.

He’s been thinking a little bit.  How did Heath Slater not get drafted to Raw, or Smackdown Live.  There must be a mistake here.

So how about we add Heath to the main event, and make the 6-Pack Challenge to the Magnificent Seven Challenge.

Sign Heath Slater.

Shane comes out, he says he isn’t a part of Smackdown, so how about he sends them a resume.

Heath tells him to go to WWE Network, you see his reume.  The integral part of NEXUS, The Corre, One Man Band Babay!! 3MB, Social Outcasts.  He is a 3-time Tag Team Champion, and if he gives him a chance, Heath can do more.  Just put him in the main event.

Shane is looking at the hottest free agent, and it’s Rhyno.

GORE!!!!

AJ Styles has some choice words for the new authority.  AJ should go to the main event, but he is in the ring with 5 other men.  But he will do what he does best, beat everyone, and beat up John Cena.

Bray Wyatt has his promo, change is always inevitable, but some things stay the same.  He is Bray Wyatt, the eater of worlds.  Soon, all 5 men will fall, and soon he truly will have the world at his hands.

Buffalo….I’m here.

Ready for the main event.

Bray Wyatt Vs AJ Styles Vs Baron Corbin Vs Dolph Ziggler Vs Apollo Crews Vs John Cena.  6-Pack Challenge is now.

Dolph Ziggler won the 6-Pack Challenge, pinning AJ Styles.  Another upset here this week.

Ziggler Vs Ambrose, at Summerslam, for the WWE Championship.

Ziggler hits a Superkick through the glass ceiling.

And now here comes Dean Ambrose.

The two men face off, and Daniel Bryan comes out to raise both arms.

Here Comes The Money!!

Shane McMahon congratulates both men.

Ambrose Vs Ziggler, Summerslam.  Show ends here.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

Tonight was a good show, but if we hadn’t seen Raw last night, it would have been better.

Nothing against this crew, because everyone worked hard.  The authority figures were minimal, more action, but last night was just epic.

But tonight was another good start.

The surprise was Dolph Ziggler getting the nod in the main event.  I say why not?  He is clearly a very good wrestler, just needs that extra push to get him on top.  I hope this is a start for him.

Good to see Orton back in the ring too, and his match with Miz was awesome, because it told a very effective story.  RKO out of nowhere.

I also liked the women’s part in this, setting the tone for what should be another Championship for the women’s division, and my gawd, Eva Marie’s entrance was classic.  It was cheesy, and she played it perfectly, with the announcer guy dubbing her intro.

Shelton Benjamin is coming back, and American Alpha debuts the next week.

Overall, a fun show tonight.  What were your thoughts?  Send them to me here.
