WWE Smackdown Live 8/30/16…The Face That Runs This Place is in Action

We kick the show off with footage from last Tuesday night on “Talking Smack” with Daniel Bryan and The Miz.

This was awesome.

We day 148 of the Intercontinental World Tour, with The Miz.

Shane and Daniel are watching at a monitor.  Shane tells Daniel he owes The Miz an apology, because he got into The Miz’s face, and he can’t provoke talent like this.

Daniel said he won’t be so honest next time, but he finds it ironic coming from the man who has a beef with Brock Lesnar.

We are off and running.

The Miz and Maryse comes to the ring to kick the show off.

Now do I have your attention?  Don’t you dare boo him, when he is being held down by both his General Manager and his commissioner, they are going to boo him?

It took 148 days to get his attention for an IC Title that used to be prestigious, and was held by failures.  But it will rise again, because of The Miz, our Intercontinental Champion.  But he has a “soft” style, he doesn’t like to get hit.  Maybe that is because he is smarter, and he isn’t a loser, who likes to get hit.

And Daniel Bryan wants to apologize to him?  But you people don’t see the big picture.  We don’t see what is going on back there.  Who do they call to be a spokesman?  Miz, then go do a media appearance?  Miz, then go do a movie?  Miz, then win the IC Title and play a chicken?  Miz.

He does it all, day in, and day out.  He never gets injured, but we all seem to think he is unworthy, and he didn’t spend his first 12 years working at a bingo hall at DFW.  But then they sit and cheer people who get opportunity after opportunity after opportunity, yet they fail.  So what does make all of us?  It makes us cowards.  And you know why we are all cowards?

Here comes Dolph Ziggler.

Miz is out here making great points.  He does it all, the red carpets, the movies, the commercials.  But there is a reason why these guys won’t get behind him, because they see right through Miz.

WWE stars, we live for this, we breathe for this.  We go above and beyond to be the best, but Miz just wants to be famous.  That is why nobody will ever believe in Miz.  That is why Daniel Bryan called him a coward, we all see you through this facade.  All you want to do is walk through a red carpet, hold your title, and be famous.  Every week, he has a chance to prove he is not soft, and he isn’t a coward.  Yet you don’t.  You want to talk about opportunities?  You want to talk about proving to people, prove to Daniel Bryan, prove to your wife, prove to yourself.  You want to prove you are not a coward?  Fight Ziggler right now.  No title, just the two of them fighting.  Prove to himself he can do it.  Miz and Ziggler….right now.

Miz is ready to fight, but he steps out of the ring.  Takes his jacket off, up to the apron, and off he goes.

I guess Daniel Bryan was right, the crowd was right, Miz is nothing but a soft, safe coward.

Miz goes right back after Ziggler, but Maryse stops him.

A great way to start the show.

Tonight, it’s Dean Ambrose Vs Baron Corbin.  And tonight, Bray Wyatt’s Sermon for the Serpent.  Bray Wyatt has a message for “The Viper”.

But next, Tag Team Tournament continues.  The Hype Bros Vs The Vaudevillains.

The Hype Bros pick up the win with a Hype Ryder.  Not a fan of Mojo Rawley myself, but this is the perfect spot for him.

They move on to Semi-Finals of Tag Tournament.

1 down, 2 to go.  There are great teams, but the hype train has left the tracks.  They have their sights set on Smackdown Tag Titles.

They will face the winners of the winner between Slater and Rhyno Vs The Headbangers.

AJ Styles greets everyone, he runs into the guy he doesn’t know.  It’s Apollo Crews, as in C-R-E-W-S.

But dude, this isn’t a spelling test, have a good one.

Here comes “The Face That Runs This Place”, AJ Styles.

Smakcdown Live, The Phenomenal One is here.  The face that runs this place is here.  And the face that beat John Cena, and the face that will beat Dean Ambrose.  Dean Ambrose will see this face in his nightmares.  Dean Ambrose will see this face lying down, as he pins him to become the new WWE World Champion.

Here comes the man AJ Styles doesn’t know.  Apollo informs AJ he went to the back, and he got the match.  Crews Vs Styles, tonight.  And that match is right now.

A good, short match here that ended with a Phenomenal Forearm, pinning Crews.

Tonight, Ambrose Vs Corbin is our main event.

Mauro Ranallo, David Otunga, and JBL join us.  Renee Young traveled to Heath Slater’s home for an exclusive interview.

Rhyno is there, as is his wife, Beulah.

Franks, crackers, and cheese for o’ dours.  Beautiful.

Rhyno is just eating the crackers, hilarious.

Heath and his wife went out for a second, and Rhyno looked at Renee, with a “How ya doin'” look.

Tonight, Slater and Rhyno will face The Headbangers in the first round of Tag Team Tournament, but next, Bray Wyatt has a message for Randy Orton.

Fireflies are out, and here comes “The Eater of Words” Bray Wyatt.

He doesn’t fear snakes.  He doesn’t fear monsters, he fears no man.  Because Bray is FEAR.  And when he thinks of the legend of Randy Orton, he doesn’t think of him as a mythical serpent.  He thinks of him as just another man.  A man who believes he has venom running through his veins, and that excites Bray.  You’re sick Randy, but that is what Bray likes about him.  Now what Brock Lesnar did to Orton was interesting.  He exposed Randy of his flaws.  He went into that fight as a man without fear, but he sees him now as a flawed man.  Bray eradicates the infected, and if he really has voices in Randy’s head, then he prays those voices are telling Randy to run.  Run Randy, run.

Enter Randy Orton.

Actually Bray, the voices in his head, the voices in his head are asking him who the hell does this man think he is.  Bray thinks he is damaged because he has staples in his head?  He’s been damaged for a long time, which makes him go.  So from one damaged man, to another.  Bray has his attention.

There you are, that is the Randy Orton he was hoping for.  The predator he wanted to see.  He shows off his scars, and is still wanting to fight.  But Randy, you are no longer the Predator that you once were.  He is damaged, he is weak.  Bray is the Predator now.  And he should know better than anyone, what does a predator do best?  He kills, and at Backlash, he will cut the head off the serpent, and hold the head like a trophy.

Randy knows about scars.  Does Bray think he know about his scars?  He knows Cactus Jack dropped his head in a bag of thumbtacks.  He knows the scars he got at Hell in a Cell when faced The Undertaker.  But those scars Bray shouldn’t worry about them, he needs to be focused on the eyes of those demons.  Randy even half-ass respect Bray, because he knows he has his demons too.  So if he wants Orton at Backlash?  You’re on.  But fear?  He’s not afraid of kicking Bray’s ass, right now.

The lights go out, and we have a tag team match with the women.  Alexa Bliss and Nattie Vs Naomi and Becky Lynch, next.

Nikki Bella joins the commentary table as we are set with the women’s tag match.

Carmella attacks Nikki Bella from behind, and during the distraction, Alexa rolls up Becky, and win the match.

The return of The Headbangers is coming up next.  Tag Team Tournament continues, with Slater and Rhyno Vs Headbangers.

New music for The Headbangers.

Great music for Slater.

Slater and Rhyno win when a bloody Rhyno gored Thrasher.

Slater and Rhyno will face The Hype Bros in the Semi-Finals.

Ambrose Vs Corbin is next.

AJ Styles joins the commentating team to watch this match.

Daley “The Milkman” Millman is talking in the ring.  He is licensed to compete, but nobody wants to compete.  But he isn’t leaving here until someone comes to the ring and compete.

He takes his shirt, his tie off, and his pants.  He is wearing tiny whites.

Kane answers the call, and he chokeslams.

Such a stupid segment, but Kane leaves, as Baron Corbin comes in.  Future feud?

Our main event, Ambrose Vs Corbin is now.

Ambrose loses, when AJ kicks at Corbin’s head, and all three men battle.  But the show ends when Ambrose catches AJ right by the ropes, and AJ is feeling it in his lower area, Dean has some fun with that.

The show ends with Ambrose celebrating the WWE World Title.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

Another good episode here, and it was highlighted by The Miz and Dolph Ziggler’s promo to kick the show off.  This could be a way to make The Miz into a bigger star.  He has done some great things with Maryse by his side, and that makes him complete.

I thought too Orton and Bray Wyatt was a good promo, and looking forward to their match at Backlash.

I love the trek Heath Slater is going, just keep it going.  I want to see how far he can go, the fans certainly love him, and the writing for him has been very good.

Where we go from here, who knows.

What did you think of the show?  Sound off, and be on the look out of my latest piece over at ForeverRebuilding.com under the Ringside Seats.  I will be giving my weekly Smackdown Vs Raw piece.
