WWE Smackdown Live! 9/6/16…The Countdown To Backlash

We are live in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Daniel Bryan has the Smackdown Women’s Championship, he brings up the first ever 6-Pack Challenge for the Women’s Title.

We will have a 6-woman tag match tonight, but first a Women’s Forum.  Becky Lynch is first.

Becky said things happen for a reason, but when it’s all said and done, she will be the first Women’s Smackdown Champion.

Natalya comes out, and said her worst night was the night she was drafted on same show as Becky.  This was supposed to be her queendom.

Alexa Bliss comes out with no music, calling them a soap opera.

It’s Carmella’s turn.

Now Nattie, Carmella, and Alexa gang up on Becky, but Naomi and Nikki come out to watch her back.

6-women tag match is tonight.

We are in catering, Dean Ambrose is enjoying himself.

Tonight, Countdown to Backlash.  AJ Styles will confront Dean Ambrose.

Shane O Mac and Daniel are backstage.  The Miz confronts both of them. Miz has to defend his title against a “loser” like Dolph Ziggler?

Daniel reminded Miz Ziggler was willing to fight him last week, and Miz ran off.  And if he doesn’t want to defend his Intercontinental Title at Backlash, he can hand his title to Daniel.

The Miz Vs Apollo Crews is now.

Good match here, but Skull Crushing Finale does Apollo in.  Dolph Ziggler was doing commentary, and Miz shoved Apollo into Ziggler.

Ziggler has the IC Title, and Miz calls for his wife to get the title.

Renee Young is with AJ Styles.

We see footage from last week, and AJ is irate at a stage hand for sending that footage.

A video profile on American Alpha.

Charlie Caruso is with The Usos.  Tonight, they face American Alpha in the Semi-Finals of Tag Tournament.  They have respect for them, but they will prove they still run the tag team division.

Lights go out, and we see Bray Wyatt.

A man had to fight for everything, just to survive.  Picture this, a man in the woods try to hunt something so he can survive.  But the man runs into a Viper.  The predator had nothing to fear.  The Viper could push the man into fear, but everything catches up.  Men learned how to adapt, and the predators became a play thing.  It’s the evolution of man, and now Randy, you have become the man, and Bray has become the predator.  He is GOD.  And the weapon he holds is far greater than you can hunt down, it’s Bray’s heart.  It’s something he will learn to fear.  The hunted becomes the prey.  And there is nothing you can do at Backlash.

Run.

6-woman tag match is up now.

Carmella makes Nikki tap out to the Code of Silence, getting the win for Alexa Bliss and Natalya.

Tonight, Tag Team Tournament continues with Slater and Rhyno facing Hype Bros.  But next, its American Alpha vs The Usos, winner moves on to Backlash for Tag Team Title shot.

American Alpha win in quick fashion, despite The Usos attacking AA early, they win with Grand Ampitude.

It’s The Uso turn we have been waiting for, when they took out AA after the match.

The Usos take out Chad Gable’s leg with a Top Rope Splash.

Moments ago, we see what we just saw, The Usos snap.

Now its Roman Reigns turn.

Randy Orton is backstage, Charly Caruso runs into him.  Bray told Randy he is no longer the predator, what is your strategy going into the match at Backlash.

Randy tells a story about a man, a snake, and a rabbit.  To answer the question, he will be waiting for Bray Wyatt patiently.  But at Backlash, Bray Wyatt won’t know what hit him.

Fandango is in the ring.

Fandango’s partner Tyler Breeze is not here, but he found someone else to tango with.  Some woman named “Betty”, and as Fandango tell her hips lied.

Is there anyone else he can dance with a little fire in their belly.

Enter Kane.

Chokeslam.

Segment is done.

AJ Styles is backstage, and he breaks some guy’s phone.  He is the face who runs this place, and this is how they treat him?

Coming up next, Rhyno and Slater Vs Hype Bros.

Curt Hawkins is coming to Smackdown.  Fact!!  Next week, on Smackdown Live.

Hype Bros Vs Slater and Rhyno is now.

The Slater family is in attendance.

Rhyno and Slater continue their run with a win.  Rhyno hit a Gore on Ryder.  At Backlash, it will be Slater and Rhyno Vs American Alpha for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles.

Earlier tonight, we see The Usos attack American Alpha after their match.

Renee Young tell us right now American Alpha is questionable for their match at Backlash.

The Usos come out, and they say everything has come back, and American Alpha was at the wrong place, at the wrong time.  The fans turned their back on them, so now American Alpha come out, and the fans love them.  So the feeling is right, and they are on their way to dominate.

Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles go face-to-face, next.

In 5 days, Backlash with Styles Vs Ambrose, for the WWE World Championship.

Charly Caruso is in the ring.

Ambrose sends Charly out of the ring.

Ambrose got AJ a little gift before they started.

It’s an old bowling trophy.  He didn’t win, just participated.  He just wanted to tell AJ it’s the only trophy he is getting from Dean.

You have no idea who you’re dealing with.  Cause if you did, you wouldn’t treat him like one.

And we see the clip from last week.

You think that was funny?  Dean tells him he was just giving him a high-pitched voice to go with his Soccer Mom haircut.

AJ is wearing Cena’a arm band.  This is a joke?  He got this from the last man he beat.  He doesn’t want Dean to hand him anything.  In fact, he will take that trophy he is holding over his shoulder, just like he took this from John Cena.

So make jokes Dean, but John Cena took AJ very seriously, and he beat him clean, in the middle of a WWE ring.  Let’s be honest Dean, you’re not John Cena.

You’re damn right he’s not John Cena.  No offense to Cena, but on that night, AJ was the better wrestler.  But Dean isn’t a wrestler, he is a fighter.  He drags people all the way to the brink.  If Dean serves his memory correctly, Dean beat AJ the one and only time they faced each other, but you don’t see Dean wearing a patch.  So you better pick up the bowling trophy, because he won’t be wearing a patch that says AJ is the face that came in second place.

AJ kicks Dean in the balls, and he breaks the trophy and we end the show there.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

Another good show this week.  I loved the Usos turn, and look forward to seeing how they play that out.  Slater and Rhyno are on their way to Backlash, and the ending played out very well.  I can’t wait to see Styles Vs Ambrose this Sunday at Backlash.

What were your thoughts on the show?  Don’t forget to check out my piece this week on ForeverRebuilding.com, under the Ringside Seats section.  I will be giving my weekly Smackdown Vs Raw report.
