WWE Monday Night Raw 1/2/12…The End Of The World?
January 2, 2012 Leave a comment
I hope you enjoyed your holidays, and now that we are back in the swing of things, WWE should pick things up too. Tonight, we will find out indeed who was behind 1/2/12 videos. Also tonight, we will have Dolph Ziggler Vs CM Punk for the WWE Title. Here we go.
Last Monday, footage of Kane telling John Cena to embrace the hate, and enjoy it.
We are live in Memphis, Tennessee, home of Jerry “The King” Lawler. Michael Cole and “The King” welcome us to the show as John Cena comes out.
The crowd is mostly booing John here, he says 2011 may not have ended the way he wanted, but it’s a new year and a new beginning. John Cena is going to make some changes to himself in 2012.
He is going to wear less underwear, what? His father is now banned from WWE TV, due to This Is Your Life John Cena segment. Now comes his third resolution, after slapping the face of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the biggest match of the year, he will prove he does not have lady parts.
One thing that won’t change is his motto, hustle, loyalty, and respect. He won’t listen to a man who likes to play with fire in being bothered by what the WWE fans want to chant. It is their right, blah blah blah, he says the same thing he always says, it doesn’t bother him to be booed by people, because it is our right to do that.
Kane, who is backstage interrupts John. He says that somehow, someway, John will allow his inner demon to get the best of him, and instead, hate will conquer everything, and we see flames in the ring, as Kane’s music starts up.
Tonight, WWE Title match with Dolph Ziggler vs CM Punk.
1/2/12 video is now interrupting the program. The End Begins Tonight.
When we come back, our first match is World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan facing The Intercontinental Champion, Cody Rhodes in a non-title match.
Daniel Bryan wins with a rollup over Cody Rhodes. This Friday on Smackdown, Daniel faces The Big Show for the World Heavyweight Title, and Cody faces Booker T for the Intercontinental Title.
Footage is being shown from last week when R-Truth made his return and attacked The Miz.
The Miz is in John Laurinaitis’ office, he said that Truth is wrong for his actions, but says nothing else. Miz said he might as well go home, but JL reminded him that The Miz started this. He says he will have people look after Miz to make sure that Truth doesn’t come out during his match tonight against Sheamus. Miz said he is a lame duck out there, but JL said it’s better than a sitting duck. Miz is not amused, he walks out and Truth is shown quaking like a duck.
Footage from the very first Royal Rumble is being shown, from 1988 when Hacksaw Jim Duggan won the inaugural event.
When we come back, we see Wade Barrett coming out. They show us footage from last week on Smackdown, when Wade threw Randy Orton down the staircase, and because of that, Randy suffered from various injuries, they are not sure when he will be back.
Wade said he could wish the fans a Happy New Year, but he has never done it before, so why do it now? Even though what happened to Randy was an accident, the Barrett Barrage will move on, and he is moving to win the Royal Rumble, so he can main event Wrestlemania.
Here comes Santino, dressed with cobra to interrupt.
Pop quiz, hot-a-shot, who lasted longer in last year’s Royal Rumble? Wade Barrett or Santino Marella? Don’t underestimate Santino Marella, here. He can and will do it again. And he’ll bring his Cobra too.
So this gives us Wade Barrett Vs Santino Marella, now.
Wade wins the match with a Winds of Change Sideslam.
The Miz is now with the Bella Twins, they argue again, and all Miz wants to know if they saw R-Truth, they said they haven’t, but they did see Little Jimmie, and Miz storms off saying he is glad Alberto is injured. Truth is lurking behind The Miz….shhhhhhhhh.
Our next match is Sheamus facing The Miz.
The match ends in a no contest when Sheamus sends Miz out with thunderous hooks. The Miz bails out of the ring and into the crowd.
Truth is on the mic, guess who he ran into? Little Jimmie. Little Jimmie said he doesn’t like Miz, and he has to get got.
The Miz is met with a Brogue Kick outside of the ring, R-Truth catches up with Miz. Truth nails him with the water bottle, his signature move, and he goes back into the crowd.
This weekly Miz beatdown was brought to you by Little Jimmie….where you got to get got. What do you say about that Little Jimmy? A kid answers Happy New Year, Miz.
Happy New Year, indeed.
Still to come tonight, Dolph Ziggler will face CM Punk for the WWE Title.
WWE Title match is coming up in a mere minutes, they show us footage from last week when Dolph Ziggler defeated the WWE Champion, CM Punk. Thanks to John Laurinaitis, of course.
Josh Matthews is with Dolph Ziggler, and he’s showing off. Does he think he will defeat the WWE Champion for the title tonight? Who writes these dumb questions.
But Ziggler believes he will just as easily as he just did a handstand. Wile education is going lower and lower, thanks to states like Tennessee, he is a walking surplus of talent. Everything he wants, he gets, except for one thing, the WWE Title. But it’s just a matter of time when that happens.
Zack Ryder is with Eve Torres, talking about watching his tag team match with Eve later tonight, and in comes Jack Swagger. He has a problem because someone is an imposter as the United States champion. Eve so nicely tries to tell Zack he is talking about him. Zack says just because their last names end in E-R doesn’t mean he won’t send Swagger to THE ER.
Swagger said he is the All-American American, which means he was born to win the United States Title. He’ll take his girlfriend, and his title.
Zack wants to go right now, but JR intervenes. He isn’t going to reward Swagger for interfering with Ziggler-Punk match, but what he will do is give us a 6 man Elimination Tag Team match with Jack Swagger, Mark Henry, and Kane taking on Zack Ryder “Woo Woo Woo”, The Big Show, and John Cena.
Main event is set, which means WWE Title match with CM Punk Vs Dolph Ziggler is up next.
Dolph Ziggler wins the match by countout when JL comes out and interferes. Punk had the Anaconda Vice on Ziggler, and Dolph tapped out, but the referee didn’t see it. JL told the ref the turnbuckle was unattached, Punk looks at JL, but Ziggler tries to give attack Punk, but Punk turns around and Ziggler runs into JL instead. Dolph flings Punk out of the ring, with JL “inadvertently” holding onto the top rope, sending Punk over the rope for the countout win. Ziggler grabs the WWE Title and runs off into the crowd.
6-Man Elimination Tag match tonight is set, John Cena, Zack Ryder, and Big Show will face Mark Henry, Kane, and Jack Swagger.
He is Here video is played now.
Royal Rumble flashback, 1995 when Shawn Michaels drew number 2, and won the Rumble.
We are live in Memphis, Tennessee, and we have The Bellas coming out for their match, they are facing Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres.
The Twins win with the ol’ switch-a-roo.
We come back to JL’s office, when Punk barges in. He said for two weeks, JL screwed him, he can let last week slide, but tonight, he almost cost him his title. JL said his problem is with Dolph Ziggler. Now he has earned a title shot, and will get one at Royal Rumble. He has named himself Special Guest Referee. Punk said he may need Otunga, because if he screws him at Royal Rumble, he will be in jail for animal cruelty, because he will beat JL like a bitch.
1/2/12 video is revealed….and he is…..Chris Jericho.
We are in complete dark, and see Jericho’s neon suit jacket, and he does his Y2J pose. He comes out, screaming come on baby, slap high fives with the crowd, comes into the ring. The crowd loves him, he loves them right back. He goes back out to the crowd, slaps high fives with the crowd, reaches for the mic. He adores the crowd, and by golly, they adore him too. He salutes them to the crowd, now he gets them to cheer on command, and drops the mic, leaves, and gives everyone high fives. The crowd seems to be booing this, but I think it’s brilliant.
Coming up next, 6-man Tag Team Elimination match, John Cena, Big Show, and Zack Ryder facing Kane, Mark Henry, and Jack Swagger.
I guess Kane isn’t going to appear here, so it’s a 3 on 2 Handicap match.
Big Show and Mark Henry are counted out, so are both eliminated.
Jack Swagger is eliminated with an Attitude Adjustment, Cena and Ryder are the winners, and survivors in the match.
Cena and Ryder celebrate in the ring, and we hear Kane’s music again. Cena decides to meet him outside the ring, but Kane meets Zack Ryder, from hell. Kane nails Cena when John came back to the ring. Kane grabs Zack Ryder, and drags him back to hell, but the hero saved Zack, and flames are out to end the show.
Kevin’s Thoughts:
I wanted the Royal Rumble to be pushed this week, and that’s what WWE gave us. CM Punk Vs Dolph Ziggler, with John Laurinaitis as special guest ref is set. I am sure that we will see John Cena Vs Kane too, probably The Miz Vs R-Truth as well.
And, we finally got to see who is here to end the world, and his name is Chris Jericho. What we don’t know is why he is back….yet. But we will, he still has the crowd in the palm of his hands. Always fun to watch.
Other than that, everything else was there. I find it strange though the Diva’s Champion hasn’t been on TV for a few weeks though, but we’ll see if that changes soon.
