WWE Friday Night Smackdown 1/18/13…Fiesta Del Rio

Tonight, we will have a Rock Concert, and Alberto Del Rio celebrates his big World Title win last week, a Fiesta Del Rio….now.

We start the show off with a celebration, a mariachi band is in the ring, and Ricardo Rodriguez announces the new World Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Del Rio, in San Antonio, Texas.

Let’s party San Antonio.  They may not have seen eye to eye over the years, but we must celebrate the fact the fat jackass Big Show is no longer World Heavyweight Champion.

Enter Dolph Ziggler.

AJ Lee, Ziggler, and Big E. love a good party, so they will pretend their invitation was lost in the mail.

Del Rio said only his friends are invited, and Ziggler said he has a giant target on his head, and since he is Mr. Money in the Bank which means he can ash in whenever he can.  He can say Adios to his title.

You think you can do that with ease?

Si, and Ziggler wants to introduce his friend Big E. to Alberto, and his little friend, Ricardo Rodriguez.

Del Rio tells him to leave, and Ziggler suggests that E. drops him on his head, and he cashes in.  Del Rio dares him to try it.

Here comes Big Show.

Show goes face to face with Del Rio, and Ziggler informs him his odds aren’t good, being outnumbered.

Here comes Sheamus.

He thought he’d help with the numbers situation he was talking about.

After all, Sheamus can’t miss a Fiesta Del Rio.

Sheamus said they may have had their differences in the past, they fought each other, and last time they were there, he even tried to steal his car.  But beyond all of that, he wanted to congratulate him on his big win over The Giant, and he deserves to be the World Heavyweight Champion.  And fella, it would be an honor to be the first to shake your hand.

They shake hands.

He’d also like to serve as a bouncer tonight for his fiesta, so Del Rio can enjoy his fiesta.  Del Rio wants everyone to enjoy themselves, and not fight.

Really?

Well, maybe just a little bit.

Enter Booker T.

Booker says this is a party, a fiesta, but Big Show if he ever puts his hands on him again, that would be the biggest mistake he ever did, sucka.  But there will be a fight tonight.  Del Rio and Sheamus face Ziggler and Big Show.

He now wants Show, Ziggler, AJ< and Big E. to leave, they are not invited to this party.

Let’s kick this Fiesta Del Rio off, right now.

Del Rio wants to see a Spinarooni.

And Booker obliges.

Sheamus even does a Mexican dance for the fans.

Tonight, Team Hell No and Randy Orton will face Team Rhodes Scholars and Wade Barrett.

Kofi Kingston is coming to the ring, facing Antonio Cesaro.

Antonio wins with the Neutralizer, with The Miz watching the match from the monitor backstage.

After Antonio wins, The Colon Cousins and Rosa Mendes confront The Miz, calling him “Ric Flair’s boy” and The Miz comes back saying they finally spoke.

The Great Khali heads to the ring, he is facing Tensai.

Khali wins with the Khali Chop.

Team Hell No are discussing Team Rhodes Scholars, particularly Cody Rhodes’ moustache.

Orton wants to know if they want to act like 2nd graders, or win tonight’s match.

Kane says both, and leaves.

Daniel said that Randy needs to talk to Dr. Shelby, since he too have anger management issues.  Daniel notes that they are champions, and Randy said he will get his title after winning Royal Rumble.  Daniel said now is not the time to discuss himself, they must focus on winning, then a group hug.

Six man tag match is up, next.

Orton and Team Hell No defeat Barrett and Rhodes Scholars, after Orton gave Cody a RKO.  After the match, Team Hell No and Orton share a group hug, although Orton took it like a man, he accepted it.

The Rock Concert is up next.

It’s a re-airing from Monday night, and actually, the best part where The Rock sings to Vickie Guerrero “Biatch, You Look Wonderful Tonight”.  Then we see Punk and Rock fighting to end Raw.

Awesome!!

Here comes The Miz, he is in action, next.

The Miz defeats Primo with a Figure Four.

We now see a clip from this past Monday night, when Kaitlyn defeated Eve Torres, and Eve quits after the match.

Kaitlyn is with Alicia Fox and Layla in the back.  Kaitlyn never realized the title was so heavy.  Layla asks to hold it, and we see Booker T and Teddy Long congratulate Houston’s own Kaitlyn for winning the Divas Title.

She has a match, next.

Kaitlyn faces Aksana.

Kaitlyn wins with a spear.  I like that finishing move for her, it fits.

Congratulations to Mick Foley, the newest inductee into the Hall of Fame, a nice video is playing for him.

We will hear from The Shield, next.

They give us a reason why they attacked Mick, it was due to the years of body aches he gave other people, and young kids who tried to be “Hardcore”, as for Ryback, who wants back what they took of him, it can’t be taken back, it’s in the past.  Randy Orton, who broke many bones, they just broke one bone, and for Sheamus, who likes to fight, get in the ring with The Shield, and he will never be the same.

Orton and Sheamus watch backstage, and Sheamus thinks it’s funny when there is a fair fight, they back away, and Orton said there was nothing funny about what they did to him this past Wednesday night.  Sheamus apologizes for not being there, and Orton makes it clear he doesn’t need his help, and in two weeks, he will win the Rumble, and show everyone what he can do.

Our main event, Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler Vs Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio is next.

Del Rio and Sheamus win with a countout, after Del Rio throws some water on Big Show, and Show just walks away.  Del Rio and Sheamus celebrate in the ring, with confetti flying on the floor, continuing our fiesta Del Rio.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

2 weeks ago, Smackdown was awful, last week, Smackdown was fantastic, and this week, we are somewhere in between.  It wasn’t a bad show by any means, but it wasn’t great either, it just was….Friday night.

But, at least we saw a clip of the best part of The Rock’s concert Monday night, and we also saw Kaitlyn, the new champion look strong.  I am not sure if Del Rio looked strong here though, since he had to use a bucket of water to piss off a giant.  Probably, not the greatest thing you can do, but we’ll see.

I actually think this will be a pattern in the coming weeks, leading up to Wrestlemania, where Smackdown will be an okay show, and if you see it, you won’t be disappointed, but if you miss it, you won’t miss much.

I hope I am wrong, what were your thoughts on the show?  Send them here.
