WWE Superstars 4/28/11…Divas Take Over

Welcome to the weekly Internet Television show, WWE Superstars.  Coming off the WWE Draft, we are going to see some wrestlers in new positions, but on the same show, if that makes sense.

Jack Korpela and Matt Striker welcome us to their part of the show, and we kick off with Tyson Kidd taking on Trent Barreta.  The main event of the evening will be Gail Kim and Natalya taking on Melina and Alicia Fox.

Excellent match here between the two men.  Tyson Kidd wins with a Sharpshooter.  WWE gave them time, and they did not disappoint.

Here comes The Internet Sensation, Zack Ryder.  He will face off against “Cowboy” David Hart Smith.

Scott Stanford and Josh Matthews welcome us to the show.

Zack Ryder picks up the win using a Rough Ryder.  The match was good, but I can’t figure out David Hart Smith.  He is channeling his inner Hulk Hogan, and pulled off the Legdrop, but to no avail, it didn’t work out.

Still to come, Natalya and Gail Kim facing Melina and Alicia Fox.

Raw Rebound featuring the WWE Draft.

Gail Kim and Natalya defeated Melina and Alicia Fox with Eat Defeat.  This was an interesting choice here because 2 of the 4 Divas had been drafted to Smackdown in the Supplemental Draft, but since this was taped Monday evening, they acknowledged it as sort of their swan song for Natalya and Alicia Fox.  The show ends with the face Divas celebrating.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

A good show tonight, what I liked was seeing the three matches have time, which is what this show should be about.  Yes, they could also review over what happened this week, but not show a 20 minute promo from Raw, almost in its entirety.

The first match was the best, and in short time I believe both Tyson Kidd and Trent Barreta are going to be underrated wrestlers.

The second match worked too because even with the gimmick, Zack Ryder can certainly wrestle.  I’m not sure what they are doing with David Hart Smith, but he needs to stop I think and just show he can be a beast with his power.

The third match was fine too, again maybe the placement should have been better, but the 4 women can go in the ring, and questions now will be answered as to what plans WWE has for any of them.

WWE Superstars 12/23/10…Divas Action Main Events

Scott Stanford and Jerry “The King” Lawler welcome us to the show tonight to start the red brand.

We hear the infamous “Radio” entrance and Zack Ryder comes out to the ring for a match.  He will take on David Hart Smith.

Woo Woo Woo

It was pure strength over pure wit here when David Hart Smith beat Zack with the Saito Suplex.  So Zack’s 1 match winning streak has come to an end, but a decent match to start the show.

NXT Rewind with the Wheel Barrel contest and yes the Swagger Soaring Eagle took the place of Hornswoggle in being the guy in the Wheel Barrel.  Derrick Bateman won, and we have the WWE Trivia.  Derrick Bateman won that contest too.

Tonight, Laycool will take on Kelly Kelly and Beth Phoenix in the main event.

Yoshi Tatsu and Darren Young are in the ring for a tag team match.  Their opponents are The Uso’s.

The Uso’s win the match with their Samoan Drop they call Alley Use.  See, one big reason I like Scott Stanford is he tells us the name of the finishing moves, unlike Michael Cole.  Having said that, Vince will probably scream at Scott for even doing such a thing.  But hey, I like hearing it.

Jack Korpela and Matt Striker welcome us to their portion of the show for the blue brand.

We get another Raw Rebound featuring John Cena, Vicky Guerrero, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and some fat jokes.

We now get a Smackdown Rebound in the same segment here with the Handicap match between John Cena taking on Dolph Ziggler and Vicky Guerrero.

Main event time, Laycool taking on Kelly Kelly and Beth Phoenix.

Kelly Kelly and Beth Phoenix win the match with a Glam Slam by Beth over Layla.  The story of the match was both Michelle and Layla were hurting from their table match they had with TLC.  So every move was escalated and hurt more.  The show ends with Kelly and Beth celebrating in the ring, and Michelle checking in on Layla.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

Another strong show tonight that featured Diva’s main eventing the show again, and once again that worked well.  I loved Laycool’s selling, especially the strong and powerful moves Beth was doing.  You can feel their pain.  Kudos to all 4 beautiful women who worked hard to make this match work.

I think ultimately David Hart Smith’s future will be in tag team wrestling, but WWE is giving him an opportunity, and he had a good match with Zack.  Ryder has also showed he can work with just about everyone that they put him in the ring with, and despite the goofy gimmick, Zack makes it work, that is a testament to Zack as a worker in the ring.  Will he ever get that true push that he deserves?  Probably not, but you know what you’re going to get when Zack Ryder is in the ring.

The tag team match was the weak link here tonight, nothing wrong with The Uso’s Vs Tatsu and Young, but it was what it was….a glorified squash match for the Uso’s.

I also want to say I like the fact WWE is giving Superstars a platform for Scott Stanford and Jack Korpela to work with.  I like hearing both men call the match and I truly know that Scott has the determination to know the moves, and I can always respect that.  Overall, another strong show.  What were your thoughts on the show?  Send me an email at DJKevinGillman75@aol.com or send me your thoughts on the site here.  I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
