Impact Wrestling 1/16/15…The Hardys Vs The Wolves
January 16, 2015 Leave a comment
We see footage from last week, with all of the champions defending their titles. We also saw Awesome Kong make her return to TNA, and a new World Champion was won, when Lashley defeated Roode. Eric Young and Samoa Joe turned their backs on Roode, where do we go from here?
Impact Wrestling, on Destination America is now.
Josh Matthews is in the TNA studios in Nashville, showing us a preview of what we will see tonight.
We see Roode from last week. His friend Eric Young took something from him that means something, and tonight, he challenges Eric Young to a match. Roode will make EY pay.
Our season premiere is in New York City. We will see The Hardys Vs The Wolves.
MVP’s crew come out, with Joe, Lo-Ki, Kenny King, and MVP.
Just when we thought we could laugh at MVP’s demise, he switches gears, change lanes, and bam….MVP is in control again.
MVP knew from day one of the wrestling business, it would be him Vs the world. He knew he would surround himself with minds that think alike. He had to go to his family. Guys like Samoa Joe and Lo-Ki, guys he had ridden with and grew up with in the indys, back in the day. He calls these guys The Beat Down Clan, or BDC.
Before we go to the new World Champion, here is “Showtime” Eric Young.
Tonight, no DQ match is set, Roode Vs Young.
MVP and EY haven’t seen eye to eye on anything, except one thing.
Just to be super clear, our opinion doesn’t matter. The truth is a funny thing. The truth is EY and MVP. They couldn’t be in the ring together a month ago, but he did something for his family. He gave the title to his brother, and he respects that. He had a brother once. When EY was World Champion, he gave Roode a title chance, and EY beat him. But when Roode was champ, where was EY’s shot?
Maybe Roode was afraid EY would beat him, again? Because nobody knows better that he is a world-class wrestler. A world-class athlete. When EY was laid up in the hospital, where was Roode’s visit? Where was his call? He just received a text. And now, he took something of Roode, and tonight, he takes everything else.
MVP introduces us the new 2-time World Heavyweight Champion, “The Destroyer” Lashley.
No Lashley on the ramp.
But here comes Kurt Angle, instead.
Look at the 5 of them being called a family, he sees thugs in the ring. And he tells EY that he will get payback tonight, because Bobby Roode will kick his ass.
MVP warns Kurt he is breathing, and Kurt tells them he isn’t the Director of Authority anymore, he can’t make matches, but he can make them all tap.
Joe gets into Kurt’s face, and the two men have a face-to-face, with Kurt giving a cheap shot.
Officials try to back them up, and Kurt issues a challenge against Joe, now.
Joe Vs Angle, now.
Joe makes Kurt tap out with the Rear Naked Choke, after Joe shoved Kurt into the ref, and kicked him in the balls. But Joe picks up the win.
During the match, they tried to get a word in with Roode, but Bobby wasn’t there. After the match, BDC attacks Kurt a bit more, with EY and Roode comes out, with a chair when we go to a break.
We come back from a break, with Roode sitting on a chair.
He is trying to be calm about this, but this crap has gone on too far.
He heard Eric Young talk about why he ended a 15-year friendship, and cost Roode the TNA World Championship, the only thing he loves about this business.
And everything EY spewed out was bullshit.
This ring is Bobby’s home, and they are in New York City. Tonight is not about wrestling, it’s about payback, and tonight, Roode will make EY pay for what he has done.
Josh and Taz are in the studio. Tomorrow morning, we will get Mike Tenay’s Impact Unlocked. He will have an interview with Magnus, and we get an exclusive part of it.
We see footage from last week when EC3 shaves Jeremy Borash’s head to get to Rockstar Spud.
Spud approaches JB.
EC3 has become insane, and JB told Spud that the hair will grow back, but someday, EC3 will get what is coming back to him.
The Revolution is in the building.
They sit in the balcony, watching the next match. Number One Contender’s match with The Hardys Vs The Wolves.
Winner gets a shot at Tag Gold.
The Hardys win with a double side effect, Matt pinning Eddie. The Revolution is watching along.
Next week, it’s Feast or Fired.
Bram has his thoughts. He’s all about this opportunity and knows he and Magnus can take control of everything.
Kenny King is discussing things with MVP. MVP assures Kenny that everything is cool with the champ. If not, they have another plan.
EY is pacing around nervous, saying he will show us and the world that he has what it takes to go after Roode.
Roode Vs EY, No DQ match is next.
We come back, and it seems EC3 and Tyrus invade the controls, and EC3 is challenging Jeremy Borash to a match, one on one next week. He will give JB 30 minutes to answer to the challenge.
The TNA World Champion has entered the building.
Eric Young Vs Bobby Roode, in a No DQ match is up now.
In what was a brutal fight, EY hits a Piledriver, right on a chair to pin Roode.
MVP and Kenny King come out to the ring.
He tells Roode he is headed for the hospital, and we will get to hear from the TNA World Champion. But perhaps Roode gets a hospital visit?
Austin Aries, the new X-Division Champion defends the title against Lo-Ki. Things are different this week, with Ki now aligning himself with a group. Strength in numbers. He warns them that when Austin is in a corner, he can be a very dangerous man.
Lo-Ki Vs Austin Aries, but next The Beautiful People Vs Taryn Terrell and the returning Brooke.
EC3 and Tyrus are waiting to hear from JB.
Last week, we saw the return of Brooke and Awesome Kong.
We hear from Brooke, she doesn’t like Robbie E.
Brooke and Taryn Vs BP, now.
BP wins when Brooke slaps Robbie, but Velvet rolls Brooke up for the win.
BP celebrate in the ring, the lights go out, and come back, we see Awesome Kong waiting for them.
She takes them both out, chokeslams DJ Z, and now here comes Havoc.
Officials come out to break them up, while the fans want them to fight.
EC3 walks in to confront JB.
JB is not a fighter, and EC3 tells him he is the heart and soul of TNA for 13 years. And when Carter shaved JB’s head, nobody came to check on him. Why?
Because nobody cares.
JB accepts the challenge.
Aries Vs Lo-Ki is up next, and we will get Feast or Fired match, next week.
Camera crew follows Manik to hear from James Storm.
It’s time for us to be introduced to the newest disciple, Khoya.
Khoya in his own country, India was lost. But now, he has found The Revolution. Next week, the power, the speed, and the destruction will be unleashed on Impact Wrestling.
Feast or Fired video is being shown now.
X-Division Title match is up now, Austin Aries Vs Lo-Ki.
Lo-Ki is now the new X-Division Champion, with some help from Beat Down Klan. Ki pins Austin with a Springboard leap.
Lashley is headed to the ring, next.
We come back, and see Beat Down Clan in the ring.
We see what they represent, and now are in the driver’s seat and with everything that has happened, the World Title comes back home.
He brings out “The Destroyer” Lashley.
We should be applauding this man, the most dominant World Heavyweight Champion in TNA history.
What we see now are winners, something the fans aren’t used to, at the home of the Jets.
Lashley looks like a champion, the suit, the clothes. MVP made Lashley look like this. The World Heavyweight Championship belongs to Lo-Ki, Joe, EY, Kenny King, and MVP. The title belongs to The Beat Down Clan.
Lashley tells him the title belongs to Lashley.
MVP tells him the title is about what BDC did.
Lashley tells him this isn’t his way, they can do what they want, and he’ll do what he wants.
MVP wants to calm things down. He tells Lashley when they were both in that other company, Lashley was the one who welcomed MVP with welcome arms, who showed him the way, and for that reason they can go their separate ways. No hard feelings.
He gives Lashley a hug, and a kiss on the head, which triggers BDC to attack Lashley, with the title.
MVP holds the TNA World Title, with his foot on Lashley. Blood is on Lashley’s face.
The World Heavyweight Championship does not belong to Lashley, it belongs to the Beat Down Clan.
Next week, Lashley Vs MVP in a street fight, and the return of Feast or Fired match.
The show ends, here.
Kevin’s Thoughts:
Well, MVP is certainly a good voice to give this new stable, I just don’t like the name. I prefered Franchise Players, it fits their name better. But it is what it is.
I also like Josh Matthews, and the job he has done in the 2 weeks he has been with the company. He and Taz should work well together in the coming weeks, as they get more familiar.
And that also includes this new presentation. They kept showing footage of Josh and Taz in the booth calling the action, it feels old school meeting new school, although it looks better when the announcers are physically there.
But let’s talk about the matches. 4 big matches took place tonight, with Joe Vs Angle, Wolves Vs The Hardys, Aries Vs Ki, and of course Roode Vs Young.
Speaking of EY, either he’s a part of BDC or not. I hated that they kept bringing up he isn’t, yet he was there in every segment with BDC. It was a bit confusing, and I was not a fan of his explanation, but I did like the new approach he took in the match with Roode. He seemed to have a new direction there, which was fun to watch.
And I absolutely love The Revolution, especially watching the match in the balcony when we saw Hardys Vs Wolves.
And seeing Kong’s entrance again, on top of the confrontation with Havoc was awesome.
2 straight good shows in their debut of Destination America, which makes it a good thing.
